Hello and welcome back to Day 4 of Release Week! The June 2015 Release will officially be available tonight at midnight EST, June 5, 2015. All of the new products are recapped at the bottom of this post if you need to review anything. And if you are just joining us, be sure to check out Days 1-3, starting here: .
But before all of that happens, I want to give you a closer look at the Watercolored Anemones stamp set. I am in love with this set as it is one of those that you can use as is, or really get creative with it and experiment.
Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube
As mentioned in the video, this is the first set that I've translated one of my finished watercolors into vector form. I am very pleased with how well it came out and will definitely be creating more sets like this.
Each piece is divided into two or three layers of images that you stamp on top of one another and build. In the sample below, I've demonstrated the "recommended" layering of the images. As always, the great thing about the way these are designed, is that you don't have to have anything perfectly aligned. It still looks amazing.
Here I stamped the large silhouette of the completed bouquet in Mojito Dye Ink and then stamped and die cut the flowers and select leaves using the Watercolored Anemones Companion Die.
For the background, I stamped a few of the sentiments from Greetings & Salutations, also releasing on June 5th. I used the larger sentiment block stamped in Fairy Dust and some of the individual sentiments in Little Piggy.
The full silhouette image in the set is great to use as a short cut, a guide, or for some fun emboss resist techniques.
Or you can simply build your own bouquet complete with stems using the individuals pieces in the set as I demonstrate in the video above.
All of the different images and shapes included in the set really open the door to get creative and create all different kinds of flowers. Don't ask me what kind they would be...but they come across as flowers! ;o) It's one of the reasons I love painting florals and why they are great for beginners, they are so forgiving.
To create this card, I used several of the "detail" images to create different types of flowers and build my own unique bouquet. By stamping off and double stamping and layering - I was able to achieve several depths of color all using the same ink for each element. Be sure to check out the video for step-by-step instructions on how to achieve similar looks.
For the sentiments, I used the Doodle Flowers Die and the Doodle Buds stamp set.
Similarly, you can create all over patterns using any of the images in the set you want. I used the same technique in the card below, except this time I used contrasting inks and didn't do any stamping off.
Notice the cool color blends and transitions in the leaves? Two words - dirty stamp. Yep, I had previously used Appletini dye ink to stamp leaves on another project and didn't clean my stamp before switching to Lake House and as the residual color mixed with the new color it created these awesome blends. The more I stamped and inked with Lake House, the more the color started to transition over. Just LOVE this, and it was definitely a happy accident!
Just one more to give you a peek at to show how you can still incorporate this style of stamps into a very CAS design.
I stamped out several "patterned papers" while testing the different color combinations and layer options. This was the result of one of those practice pieces. Since I used so little of the actual patterned piece, I was able to get 3 cards out of this one.
I hope you enjoyed this close up look at Watercolored Anemones. That is all I have for you today...but I still have quite a few more with this set that I will be sharing over the next couple of weeks as well as another video on creating the allover patterns. And I will be back tomorrow with a look at Doodle Buds, so be sure to come back!
If you are still itching to see more, and I hope that you are - the design team is killing it this month! If you haven't been by their blogs, you are missing out. They are definitely pulling out all the stops for this release!

ReplyDeleteI'm a new fan of WP9. This set looks amazing to use for many techniques.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm just going to gush. I absolutely love watching your videos. You have the rare gift of being able to take your abundant talent and break down your process in a way that allows me to believe that I, too, might create something beautiful. I think of it like this: you create these beautiful floral images (the seed), show us what is possible (taking root), and then we take these images into our own hands, praying that our purchase has been sprinkled with some of your creative magic, and...(the blossom). As in nature, some of these blooms are a bit raggedy, some are stunning, but all of them give us a peek into what is possible. Thanks so much for what you do!
ReplyDeleteI love your last card, very classy looking!
ReplyDeleteAs alwys this release is incredible! Loooove!

ReplyDeleteI agree - Watercolored Anemones is a versatile set, not only in how to make it come alive on paper, but for the fact that it will suit any type of card (a card makers dream!). Lovely cards, each and every one of them!
ReplyDeleteOk, now you are really speaking my language. Cute baby animals are nice, but loose watercolory florals...OH YES!!
