Hello Crafters! I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Even though Christmas is over it's still Winter and I don't know about where you are but in Cleveland that means we have to bundle up! I wanted to show you how you can get a little bit more out of your stamps by changing up their outfits really quickly and easily.
I started with two different girls from The Crew series just as they are drawn. I masked my images and added a simple distress ink background. A few spatters of shimmer spray and some clean water help break up the background. I Copic colored my images before stamping my sentiment.
I stamped the girls again but this time I decided to do a bit of a scene behind them. I used masking paper and distress inks again to create snowy hills in the background. This time before I started coloring the girls I switched up their outfits. I added a bit of stamping to the girl in the red dress and some sleeves to the girl in the green dress.
I didn't need to change anything to their "pants" outside of just coloring them to be jeans or leggings. Once the coloring was done I used a white and silver gel pen to add a few more details to their outfits.
You can see both cards from start to finish in the video below.
Like I said in the video I'm not in love with her huge necklace but it is what it is. Kind of reminds me of Flava Flav....anyone else? Anyway, it's not a good thing lol. I'm hoping to fix it when I finish the scene.
Speaking of finishing the scene I'll be doing that on my own blog. Which you can check out here.
I hope this gave you some ideas to get a little bit more out of the stamps you own.
Thank you guys so much for stopping by!

This is fabulous! I'm going to feature it in the Coffee Loving Papercrafters FB group!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly. I love this card as this is one of my favorite stamp sets. I really appreciate you using an older set as it gives me ideas as to how I should use it. I am a newish crafter and am not yet confident about making my own designs or coloring on my own. I think this is why I feel I need to buy new supplies as mimicing others work and learning is the way I feel I best learn. To me it does feel like there are crafting experts who race to get their videos out first so that they can make the sale. You are genuinely not one of them. I always learn from you and think you are an awesome teacher. Thank you for all you do to encourage us!!!
ReplyDeleteHow clever is this? I LOVE what you did with the outfits!!!
ReplyDeleteStunning card! Thanks for sharing your talent!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic cards Kelly, thanks for sharing the tips on making images a little different than intended. It certainly helps to increase the usage of our stamps.
