Happy Leap Day everyone! Today I have a fun collaboration for you with the talented Kathy of The Daily Marker.
Not too long ago, Kathy and I made plans to try and do a monthly coloring collaboration. The idea was to color the same image - her with Copic markers and me with watercolors.
We chose to start with the Beautiful Bouquets: Ranunculus stamp set. This is the perfect stamp for those times when you just want to focus on and enjoy coloring. The arranging is already done and you can just stamp and color.
Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube
See what I mean? As mentioned in the video, the watercoloring of this card took about 20 minutes. But, if you wanted to go even simpler...the one below has less layers of detail and only took about 10 minutes.
Deceptive, right?
I hope you enjoyed today's projects and please be sure to stop by Kathy's to see her take on this image with Copics!
EDITED TO ADD: When we chose this image a while ago I did not anticipate it would be sold out. I'm so sorry! But, they are on their way back in stock and should be available again in about a week. So if you are looking to grab this one, you can sign up to be notified by email as soon as it becomes available again here.
Another gorgeous creation, Dawn. I need more practice at not controlling everything...
ReplyDeleteExquisite!!! 'Just let it flow' will be my mantra from here on out, Dawn!!! Thanks so much for the lesson ... and for including blues and greens to the leaves - gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I wish I just had a pinkyful of your talent. I think I tend to use images with thicker lines and get disappointed. I was looking for which brand of brushes you use and their sizes, but didn't see them listed.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful stamp and beautiful cards!
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous, both cards! So glad I managed to get this stamp as it is going to be one of my all time favourites.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome. That was the most enjoyable, energetic, and fun video ever. Loved the music and love your stuff!!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful work with a beautiful stamp. What else can I say? I was interested in one of the comments above about using stamps that have thicker lines in the images. Now I'm going to have a look at some of my favorite image stamps to see if that does make a difference when heat embossing before watercoloring. I do hope that is a secret so I can do maybe half as gorgeous coloring as you do. Thank you for letting us see your techniques by filming a video. Very enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS card and FABULOUS tutorial!!!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for sharing with us Dawn :)
WOW - it was MAGICAL watching your inks in action, I feel SO INSPIRED, I NEED to practice this technique more, I think I have been too heavy handed with the ink in my previous attempts!!!
... I meant to say CARDS - they're GORGEOUS and your tutorial really was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!
DeleteLovely card. I do think the ranunculus is going to be a must-have stamp set! I'm curious; what container are you using for your mini distress inks?
ReplyDeleteStunning, Dawn! Great colaberation with Kathy for the 30 Day Challenge. Thanks!

Since Google can't un merge the dead Blogger profile with closed email from my account, my blog moved to WP in 2012 and this HAS been going on that long. Google doesn't have Cust. Service? Wah...Wah...
Your coloring is soooo beautiful!

AWESOME card, Thanks so much for the great video!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards! You make it look so easy, but I bet it would take me much more than 20 minutes to achieve a somewhat acceptable look...

ReplyDeleteStunning cards!
Loved the card and the video. I just started to do the distress ink watercolor ink and I love it. I need to play a lot more to get as good as you are though...
