Welcome to Day 2 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge Blog Hop. Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker wants to share her love of coloring with you. Today Kathy has assembled a blog hop to give your creativity a jump start with some of the stops that will be on The Coloring Challenge Road Trip & her favorite OnLine Card Classes.
The premise of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge is to color something every day, even if it’s just for five minutes - however feel free to jump in or out as time permits - and any coloring medium is welcomed. It’s been proven that coloring can lower your blood pressure & make you feel happy and relaxed so it’s worth carving out a little time for yourself each day. You will find that Kathy encourages you along the way to stretch your creativity a little bit more and to feel successful with your coloring.
Click here to check out Day 1 and get all of the details on ways to participate, share your work and be inspired by all of those participating.
And if you have any questions about The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge you can refer to this post.
Blog Hop
You should have arrived here from the always fun Lawn Fawn.
For this round of the 30 Day Color Challenge, I am challenging myself to do a series of floral studies. The goal is to do a different flower each day in varying mediums. Some may span several days and some may be very quick, depending on how in depth I decide to get with each one. I decided to start with traditional roses.
I thought I would give you all a kind of behind-the-scenes look at my process. Most of our stamps start with hand illustrated sketches, so I turned on the camera and thought I'd share some of it with you guys - from simple sketch to full shading. I hope you enjoy!
The next stop on the hop is the one and only Debby Hughes!

ReplyDeleteI will give it a shot! Never have participated in one it should be fun!

ReplyDeleteI always participate in Kathy's coloring challenges. Love them and her!
ReplyDeleteYour instructions and videos always provide so much information to help me become successful. Thanks for the drawing tips!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see the video using blending stump and vine? or charcoal or graphite. How do you keep from making zigzags but instead do my impossible - straight one-way lines? When I get going I hook my lines and end up zigzagging which is not cool. I've found that seed catalogue companies provide gorgeous on-line flowers to draw, also.
Deletethanks for the video - so helpful! And beautiful results!
ReplyDeletegreat video. i can see why it is relaxing for you to draw. it was relaxing for me to watch the video. so much fun to watch someone so talented.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your process! Going to give this coloring challenge a try.

ReplyDeleteI have optimistic intensions to participate in the challenge but who knows what life will throw at me to get in the way but I intend giving it my best. I don't tend to do floral images so will definitely be dropping by to check out your videos for inspiration after all isn't that what a blog hop is for inspiration and learning new things from fellow crafters' so thank you in advance.

ReplyDeleteFingers crossed, Dawn! OH I did color today! I'm off now to watch your magic happen... thank you!
ReplyDelete=] Michele
This was the coolest video, it just ended too soon. Please go back and do another showing how to do the leaves. My craft room is all packed up right now due to a remodel, so if I do any coloring it will have to be in a few weeks (hopefully).
ReplyDeleteI loved watching this video. I found it really interesting to see the rose develop as you gave it more definition and depth.
ReplyDeleteSeriously gorgeous! I'm participating in the challenge and hope to end up with a pile of coloring images or cards! :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you talk like I'm going to be able to hand sketch a rose, too. Bwhahahahaha! Why do you think I buy gorgeous stamps like yours?!! I can't draw to save myself. LOVE how the shading in simple B&W gives it such great dimension! So pretty!! Thanks for sponsoring this fun hop! I won't make every day of the 30 day challenge, but for sure will do as many as I can... I've participated since she started it. Always fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Great video
ReplyDeleteI am endeavouring to participate every day....fingers crossed!!!
ReplyDeleteI love just watching anything on coloring. It's my way of relaxing, other than actually coloring!!! I think my favorite method at the moment is pencil and gamsol...
ReplyDeleteWow! Your sketches are amazing. You mentioned mistakes and getting sloppy, if you did that I could not see where. I'm planning on participating. Might not be every day but will try.
ReplyDeleteI plan to start work on a floral card myself tomorrow
ReplyDeleteToday, I am coloring a postcard to send to my grandson.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to finish a 30 Day Challenge, but I'm trying again. If at first you don't succeed, try again! LOL
ReplyDeleteYes I will. Cool video!
ReplyDeleteYes, I will be joining the challenge, as many days as possible. What fun!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!! Thanks for sharing the video!!! : )
ReplyDeleteWOW!! if I tried that it would be a hot mess, lol. it is beautiful and you are really good!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, TFS!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a stop on the hop! I am participating in the 30-day challenge and am excited we are having another one! I loved seeing your process making the flower come to life. I didn't mind your voice over, but if there is just music, I usually mute it... :)
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing....so very talented. I enjoyed the video. I will not be participating in the 30 day challenge..just need a little more practice. Thanks
ReplyDeleteFascinating how your process works. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteGreat video. The rose turned out so perfect. So much detail. I will definitely try to colour something everyday. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteGreat work. Will try to color daily and post my results.
ReplyDeleteYesssss...I'm in!
ReplyDeleteUnique coloring. I think I can do that, but my problem is "free handdrawing". I have beautiful stamps, and I'm going to try this technique, using "no outline" stamping tech., and try to achieve this! Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI am going to do the 30 Day coloring challenge. "Kind Soul" is in my pile of goodies to color, in fact. I can't free-hand draw anything, though, which is what I love about stamps. You talented people can do the drawing and then I just get to have fun coloring!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am planning on participating as much as I can. I'm 2 for 2 so far! I've got a huge stack of stamped images that are ready to go, as well as a bunch of coloring book pages that I want to tackle and make into cards. Thanks for the generous giveaway & for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI've never managed to colour every day for the full 30 days but so far this time I'm doing ok!!!
ReplyDeleteI will take part, won't be able to every day, but will do my best!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join in but have already missed 3 days!
ReplyDeleteI am joining in! I always do and this time around I am one of the Goodwill Ambassadors so that is very exciting! I loved watching your study and your rose come to life Dawn - you are always fascinating to watch. And you explain everything so well. Any video you want to make is fine by me... I like listening to voiceovers but also enjoy music, so whatever is easiest for you!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this video and learning more about your process. I would love to see the footage of the rosebud colouring. I find a learn a lot from you when you describe what you are doing, so I would enjoy the voiceover, however music is fine if that's better for you. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYes I'm taking it. Also my 5-year old daughter is getting in to it =)
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to participate when time permits, but I probably won't be able to post my entries as often. Your video was mesmerizing as I was in awe watching you color.
ReplyDeleteWow..... love the rose build up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the insight in the behind the scenes! I will definitely try to do this challenge! No promises on success though :p
ReplyDeleteLOVE to see you work behind the scenes! I am planning on participating daily, I sure hope my time allows!
ReplyDeleteYour plan to explore a month's worth of floral images has certainly piqued my interest. I'll definitely be returning to see how your blooms blossom. The behind-the-scenes video: so enlightening! I'm participating in the challenge, as are my niece and nephew. Thank you for the smiles, the inspiration and the giveaway opportunity!
ReplyDelete~carol
I am definitely participating. I hope to stretch myself and break out some mediums I don't use as often as my Copics!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am definitely hoping to participate as often as I manage! I am yet to manage participating every single day, I usually miss a few here and there, but it's amazing fun either way :-) Thanks so much for supporting Kathy and her amazing challenge, and for the lovely giveaway!

ReplyDeleteLove it. I wish I could draw like that.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I will not have time to participate for the whole 30 days, but I hope to get one done in 30 days, lol.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE coloring ,it is so relaxing!
ReplyDeleteI do hope to participate, but not every day! Amazing shading and coloring on your gorgeous roses!
ReplyDeleteI just posted my new card for the challenge. Will try to do at least once a week! Love those roses!
ReplyDeleteI am participating, but starting a bit late....I've been in birthday party planning/executing phase for my 10 year old, but we're all done with that now, and I'm ready to color! Thanks for the great video, love hearing about and seeing your process!
ReplyDeleteWow, you are fabulous! I always fail at the daily part, but I hope to try out some more regular coloring this month!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sketches. I am trying to join in the challenge. Most of my colouring is for DT work though, so I can't share full pieces too often until I'm allowed!
ReplyDeleteI will be participating in this challenge. I watched part of it last year and was in awe at the wonderful and amazing creations. I know I am so novice compared to everyone doing this, but I have to start somewhere.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloring!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try to keep up with the challenge. I usually just watch and the coloring is always top notch.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your process.
wow what talent...so cool to see this rose come to life. I am going to try to participate in this challenge but I just started a new job and university course! Time may not be on my side.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the video! Yes I'm participating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the video. I love getting tips to try.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid I will not be participating as much as I would like to. For one we have in and out internet and also my garden is demanding my time so crafting gets put on hold this time of year. Thanks for the video though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful rose. Thank you for sharing your process! I'd love to see you finish up the images.
ReplyDeleteDawn, that was truly something to watch, I am seriously impressed. I have been doing all of the color challenges since Kathy began doing them. It is so much fun. I took a few close up pics of flowers this summer for reference as I am trying to learn about shading with both Copics and water colouring. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteGreat video-thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful talent you have, I sure wished I could draw like that.
ReplyDeleteLove the video! Thanks for sharing! I have started the challenge but can not promise all 30 days!
ReplyDeleteI love watching your videos, that image is just stunning
ReplyDeleteLove your video. I'll be participating most of the 30 days.
ReplyDeleteNo my coloring looks bad. I don't know how to shade and blend. Trying to learn. Watching you draw and shade in the rose was awesome. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteGreat video-I'll really have to practice to get mine looking anywhere near yours. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteEvery interesting video. Thanks for sharing. Trying but probably won't be every day
ReplyDeleteI will try to color some of the 30 days. I love the idea of the challenge. Thanks for supporting Kathy.
ReplyDeleteYes I am going to color all 30 days. Coloring just make me so happy
ReplyDeleteLisa
If I can squeeze some coloring into a very busy month, I will participate in the challenge. Just need to see what the month brings.
ReplyDeleteFor someone who does not sketch this is absolutely mind boggling. Thanks so much for the video!! Beautiful roses also..... :)
ReplyDeleteso far have done day 1 and 3. I loved watching your video - there was a class in stamp etching I just took at Stampaway and was so amazed at just how some flicked lines can make an outline stamp look. Yours goes so far beyond that, but started the same way.
ReplyDeletean amazing video!
ReplyDeleteI plan to participate as much as possible. I loved your video and the beautiful roses.
ReplyDeleteWould like to take time to sit, relax and color. Thank you for the video and I look forward to seeing the next ones
