Summer Blooms with Kara

Hello, It's Kara and I'm back with a little ode to spring. I'm so ready for blooming flowers, sunshine and warm weather. The new Queen Bee PURE Color Dye Ink is the just the epitome of spring/summer!

I started by die cutting this double heart from Needle Point Hearts. I decided not to add any stitching, but instead back it with black cardstock and allow the black to show through. Then, I pulled out an old favorite called Summer Blooms. I built a little spray of flowers and leaves overlapping the die cut stitching holes slightly.

I added a few black accents with the sentiment, the veins of the leaves and the dots. The dot stamp is a little favorite of mine from the Dream Believer stamp set. I love that little stamp and use it all the time on many different types of card designs. It's the perfect little accent!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Summer Blooms With Kara

Hey Guys! It's Kara and I'm back with a Thank You card inspired by the colors around me. The weather here in NJ has been so warm and lovely! The daffodils and rhododendrons are blooming with pinks and yellows making me very happy!

When I pulled out the Summer Blooms stamp set to create this Thank You card I knew I wanted to replicate those colors. The WPlus9 range of PURE Color Dye Inks has the perfect hues.

I started by stamping two of the larger flower images in Falling Star and Wild Mango. I added the two large stems next. I placed the stem on my block with a curve. I stamped it once for one flower and then turned the block around and stamped it again for the second flower. This way the stems were curving in opposite directions. With the same green ink, Mojito, I added the larger leaves.

I filled in the empty areas with a smaller stem, leaves and flowers. The small flowers are stamped in Little Piggy and Sweet Gelato The little stamens are stamped in black ink as well as the sentiments.

Once all of my stamping was complete I die cut the panel with the Sunshine Layers Die. This is a great design for a one layer card, but I just can't help myself! I had to add a little black contrast and pop everything up.

Thank you so much for coming by today! I hope you are having a lovely day.

GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Marybeth Lopez

Hi there! My name is Marybeth Lopez, I am so excited to be guest designing for WPlus9 today! I was asked right before Christmas so what a gift and honor! I have a simply stamped card and iPhone cover design to share with you today.

I used Summer Blooms on my card and simply stamped - no masking or cutting - just stamped the flowers as I went along. Each leaf and bloom is stamped in one color, the darker shade was achieved by over-stamping the image a couple of times using the Misti stamping tool.

I added the little stamp that is pictured on top as an accent on most of the blooms because I liked it. The photo underneath that shows how I used the fun foam for my backing. I used three pieces because I didn't have a full piece, but it still works. Then I just adhered it to the back of the larger layer hexagon that I did my stamping on.

I have another fun project to share with you - personalizing my iPhone with the Whimsy Alpha and Watercolored Anemones stamps and dies.

I change up my clear phone case often and this time decided to personalize it with this fun alphabet. I first ran my card stock through the Xyron Sticker Maker and then stamped using my MISTI stamping tool.

Just to be safe, I did test the adhesive to see how easily it comes off the phone before adhering, and it came off very easily.

I used the Watercolored Anemones stamps and dies for the blooms on the back of my iPhone. I also ran those through the Xyron.

I think it would be fun to send a personal name, etc. included inside a birthday card, all the recipient would have to do is peal and stick. Or create a custom case as a gift. I happened to get my case from Amazon. I can't tell you how much I love this Whimsy Alpha set, so many options!

Thank so much for the visit today!

~Marybeth

Emboss Resist Summer Blooms with Joni

Hello everyone, Joni here sharing my take on the new floral stamp set Summer Blooms.

To begin my card I first distressed the card panel with Wplus9 Bo Peep, Beanstalk, Falling Star, Hayride, and Little Piggy PURE COLOR dye inks. I distressed first to avoid discoloring the embossing powder that I use for the flower images. Next, I stamped the flower images using Versamark ink and white embossing powder, then heat set.

Next, I die-cut the entire card panel using the Gift Card Layers Die. For added interest I die cut a focal circle around the flowers using the Love Mom Layers Die. For extra dimension, I used the same die to cut a circle from fun foam and popped up the flowers.

Next, I added the sentiment "I can't thank you enough. But I'll try" included in the Summer Blooms stamp set as well as the "Thank You" sentiment. The thank you sentiment was white heat embossed using white embossing powder on a strip of Sweet Gelato cardstock. Finally, I added some splatters of gold watercolor paint to finish off the card.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

VIDEO: Hand Illustrated Look Using Solid Stamps with Kelly

Hello Crafters!

Originally I had a completely different card for you guys today. I really loved the landscape Border Dies we just released and I wanted to try my hand at creating a sky featuring the Northern Lights. I loved the way it looked in real life but the camera did not love it. I guess sometimes it just works out that way.

So instead, I turned to my first loves, flowers and coloring. I hope you don't mind :)

Every time we release a solid image set I have an internal struggle. I'm not good at using solid stamps but I love the images so much. My work around for this is no line coloring. It always looks different and is super fun - once I convince myself I don't actually need a bold black outline for everything.

You can watch the whole card from start to finish in the video below.

Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube

I'm sure you noticed in the video, that even though I gave up my bold black outline, I still kept all my other little loves like the white outlining and the drop shadow. Some things just stay with you no matter what kind of card you're doing. I guess that's why we all have a "signature style".

I hope that you've found a bit of inspiration to break out those solid images and use them a little differently. Thank you so much for stopping in today!
