Creating Flower Wreaths w/Joni Two Ways

Floral stamps are so versatile, especially if they include individual blooms or smaller clusters. You can build bouquets, use them separately, create all over patterns, or create wreaths.

For today's projects, you can easily use any flower stamps and dies you already have on hand. For my first project, I've used the Modern Petunias stamps and dies. And for the sentiment I used the Birthday Wishes stamp set.

To begin, I used Wplus9 Nautical Navy cardstock, distressed it with Distress Oxide Ink in Peacock Feathers around the card and left the middle card dark. Because the Distress Oxide Inks have both dye and pigment ink properties, I was able to "brighten" up the edges of the darker cardstock with the lighter color. I then splattered it with water and Gansi Tambi Starry Colors.

I colored the flower images with Copic markers, then die-cut them using their matching dies.

Next, I added some Pretty Pink Posh Jewels in Pearl White Jewels. To finish off the card, I heat embossed the sentiment "hope your birthday is extra" in white on black cardstock, fussy cut it out, and adhered it using foam tape.

For my next project, I used the Hello & Thanks stamps and dies. This set doesn't have individual flowers, but it does have several smaller clusters of flowers that can also be combined to create a wreath.

I first distressed the white card panel with Distress Oxide Inks in Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade, then splattered it with water.

Next, I stamped the images on white cardstock in black ink. Again, I used Copic markers to color them and then die-cut each image using their matching dies.

For the sentiment, I used the larger "thanks" included in the same stamp set, and heat embossed it in Aqua Tinsel. For the smaller sub-sentiment, I used white heat embossing on a black strip of cardstock.

To really kick it up a notch, I added some Diamond Stickles selectively on some of the flowers and leaves.

Finally, I added some Pretty Pink Posh Ivory Jewels for added interest to finish off the card.

I hope you guys enjoyed, and as always, thanks for stopping by!

Peek-a-Boo Patterns w/Kara ft. KNIT PATTERNS & NO ONE ELSE

Hello Guys! It's Kara and today I have a card to share with you using the new Knit Patterns stamp set accented by floral images from No One Else. The colors are perfect for Valentine's Day, but this card could be given for many occasions.

I started by selecting the 5 row heart image from Knit Patterns. I stamped it horizontally across my card panel twice starting with Shell Pink, then switched to Sweet Gelato and finally Cranberry Crush.

For the white panel on top I die cut it with a stitched rectangle die. I positioned the die again, tilting the panel slightly back and forth to get these diagonal cuts.

I accented each triangular piece with floral images from No One Else stamped in coordinating colors. I added the sentiment to the center triangle. I positioned the white triangles on top of the Knit Patterns background with dimensional adhesive and then adhered everything to a white card base.

I had to fussy cut the double leaf image on the top and center cluster of flowers because I dropped the die and couldn't find it. Thankfully, I did one last search while photographing my card and I found it! I'm sure you can relate!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Night Skies Two Ways w/Antonia Florence

Hi everyone! This is Antonia Florence, and I was “over the moon” when WPlus 9 invited me to create this guest design post for their blog. I thought what better way to show my appreciation than to make these two moonscape background cards featuring WPlus9’s “Friends for All Seasons” Winter and Spring stamp sets?

Let’s get started and I’ll show you how to make a moonscape background two different ways – first, with Distress Oxide Inks and second, with Copic Sketch Markers.

Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube

Here is a quick overview of how I completed each card.

Distress Oxide Ink Version

I started by stamping and masking all of my images on Neenah solar white classic crest cardstock in 110lb weight cut down to A2 size. I used a 1.5 inch circle punch to make the moon. To make the evening sky, I blended distress oxide ink in Weathered Wood around the face of the moon, and then built out the evening sky using Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire distress oxide inks. To create a strong light source emanating from the moon, I tried to keep the area under the moon bright by using my lightest inks and kept the edges of the scene very dark by using my darkest shades. I added detail to the face of the moon with C0, B60, and BG000 copic markers and then softened the colors using a colorless blender (or 0 marker). I shaded the ground with C1, C3, and C5 copic markers, again trying to use my lightest colors in the center of the scene where the moon rays shine the brightest.

After removing the masks, I colored the white areas of the panda using my 0, C00, C0, C1, C3, and C5 copic markers. I colored the balloons with YR12, R24, R27, R29, R39 and R89 copic markers, trying to keep the lightest shades where the moon rays appear the brightest.

To complete the scene, I added some highlights with a white gel pen and clear sakura stardust pen and stamped the sentiment using black Versafine ink.

Copic Marker Version

I stamped and masked all images on 110lb Neenah solar white classic crest cardstock. It is very important to use heavy cardstock to absorb the layers of ink required to create a smoothly blended evening sky using this coloring technique. I started shading the evening sky by coloring the area around the moon with a B000 copic marker, and built out the color darker and darker with B21, B24, B26, and B28, using a circular pattern while coloring until I reached the edges of the scene. To color the ground, I used YG11 (a special trick to make the ground “glow” beneath the moon), and then YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, and YG99. To give the ground texture, I added blades of grass using my dark YG markers. I colored the panda the same way as I did in the first version and colored the balloons in rainbow colors. To add some “magic” to the scene, I used my white gel pen to create little flecks around the balloons. To complete the card, I stamped the sentiment with white embossing powder on black cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed this project and I would love it if you gave these two “moonscape background” cards a try. These cards make great encouragement or “thinking of you” cards, but the scenes would also make great Valentine’s cards for your friends and loved ones. My sincerest thanks to WPlus9 for having me on the blog today!

Thanks for joining me, and have a great day, everyone! ~ Antonia

Mix and Match Stamp Sets w/Joni ft. Modern Anemones

Hello Everyone, Joni here sharing another take for the Valentines Day card ideas. For this project I used the oldie but goodie Modern Anemones stamp and dies, then combined it using the sentiment from the Biggest Fan stamp set.

To begin, I distressed the white cardstock panel using Distress Oxide Inks in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans. I then splattered the panel with water and gold watercolor paint to create a little texture. Next, I die-cut the center using the decorative die from the Oh My Gostrich! Die. I stamped the card base that shows through the die cut window with the large "love you" sentiment from Biggest Fan.

For the florals, I stamped the anemones and leaves from Modern Anemones on white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. I used the coordinating Modern Anemones Die to die cut all of the images.

I adhered the florals at the top and bottom of the card, framing the sentiment, with foam tape for a little more dimension. I also used a few Pretty Pink Posh Ivory Jewels for added interest.

For my next, card I used the same products, but added the Milk and Cookies stamps and dies to the mix. These sets are not something that one might think to used together at first glance.

But, I think they look pretty awesome together! How about you?

I started by distressing white cardstock with Distress Oxide Inks in Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick. Again, I splattered the panel with water and watercolor gold paint.

For this card I stamped the large "love you" again from the Biggest Fan then stamped the "we're just better together" sentiment from Milk and Cookies over the middle of it. I adhered the florals from Modern Anemones behind the milk and cookie images. And like the last card, I again used the Pretty Pink Posh Ivory Jewels to finish the card.

I hope you guys enjoyed my take on mixing and matching your sets and gives you some ideas to incorporate into your own work. Make sure to shop your stash and experiment pairing different things together. It can really breathe new life into those older products. And, you may even find something that would look great with a new product that you've had your eye on!

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you have a wonderful week!
