A Fond Farewell from Maureen Merritt

Hi All, it's Maureen. Today's card is for YOU, our blog readers, Dawn, the most talented person I know and the entire WPlus9 design team. YOU are simply amazing!

The past two plus years of designing on the WPlus9 team has been a dream come true. I remember clearly the day I received an email from Dawn asking me to be a part of her team. I happened to be sitting at my computer when the email came through and I responded in less than 30 seconds (Dawn can attest to this!). I was literally chair dancing and have been every single release since then. Sadly though, today is my last post as part of the WPlus9 team.

I thought it would be fun to take a look back at a few of my favorite cards over the past two years...

It sure has been fun!

A big THANK YOU, to all of you that have left comments for me throughout the years. Each and every one means the world to me. And a HUGE thank you to Dawn for believing in me. WPlus9 will always hold a special place in my heart. I will always be your biggest fan!

Farewell for now, my stamping friends!

Christmas in July with Maureen

Hi all, It's Maureen. It's never too early to get started on your holiday cards and I'm a big fan of Christmas in July!

This sentiment from Holiday Boughs is just stunning and it's perfect for CAS cards! Simply stamp and emboss, then frame the sentiment with the images in the set or the snowflakes from Folk Art Flurries like I've done here. You can't go wrong with gold & silver, it's timeless and elegant, a favorite of mine for the holidays!

If you like to mass produce, this could easily be replicated again and again with ease.  It's even flat for mailing!

What do you think? Christmas in July, yay or nay?

From Inspiration to Design with Maureen

Hi all, it's Maureen. Today I want to talk about inspiration. Where do you all find it...Pinterest, home decor, stationary, nature? Inspiration is all around us! I am constantly taking pictures throughout the day of things that spark an idea for a card. This card design for instance was inspired by a dress I saw recently in a department store.

The dress was covered with black and white stripes from top to bottom with pink flowers lining the edge. Translating that onto a CAS card though - I quickly found that it was a bit too busy for my liking. So, I simplified the design by leaving the stripes in the upper third of the card base. I usually work in the bottom third, so this was a great way for me to change things up. It's always a good idea to change it up once in a while.

My color combination was inspired by a wall hanging that was in a movie I watched the other night. It was set in the 70's and I just loved the funky color combination. The You Equal Kind flowers are fun and funky, just perfect for the design.

Inspiration is all around us. Keep your eyes open, snap pictures of things that inspire you, and you'll never be lacking for mojo when you head to your work space again!

Tough Break with Maureen

Hi, it's Maureen. Today I'm sharing a super cute card featuring the Get Well Gang stamp set.

The images in this set are so cute and the sentiments that pair with them are just perfect.

To make my card, I die cut the tag from the Love Shower Layers Die and blended the background with Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks. Next, I die cut the center and inlaid it (without attaching it) while I stamped the sentiment and bandaids. Then I adhered the outside of the tag to a white card base with tape runner and the center with foam tape.

The image was simply stamped with black ink and die cut. I just colored his nose with a Copic Multiliner and popped him up on foam tape before adding him to the card. Notice how the bright colorful background really makes the uncolored die cut pop? This is a great option for utilizing those cute lined images if you're not comfortable with coloring or just short on time. I think it is such a chic look and really "matures" the overall feel of the card. A couple of white die cut clouds and Baker's Twine finish this CAS card off perfectly.

Thanks for stopping in and sharing a bit of your day with us!
