Details

Create a card, scrapbook page, digital layout, tag, whatever...just make sure to use the colors noted in the graphic above. This month we are using Plum, Green, Aqua, and Red. As always, white/cream and/or black/brown is allowed for neutrality.

For my card, I wanted to focus on those fabulous bold colors. CAS/Bold & Graphic cards are my go-to style when dealing with vibrant colors. I find it easier for me to balance the colors with lots of white space. I used Design Basics: Backgrounds II to create the strips of vines in rainbow fashion. I masked off a strip about 2/3rds of the way down to add my sentiment from Funky Foliage. To frame the focal point, I used the dotted journal line from Pile It On.

Design Clips: One Layer Thank You

Hello bloggies! I hope you have all had a fantastic weekend. Ours was fantastic! Kerrianne and I were finally able to get together for a birthday dinner and movie. OMG, Bridesmaids was hilarious! If you like over-the-top female comedy...this is the one. We laughed so much.

June 2011 Release: Group Post

It's Release Day! Our June release is now available at www.wplus9.com. I know I've had a blast gettin' my party on with Pile It On. But the girls have been doing their share of partying as well. Oh how do I love these talented ladies? Let me count the ways:

1. Jinny Newlin

I love her use of Design Basics: Backgrounds I tucked behind that beautiful bow. The glittery icing and the vellum banner with the embossed sentiment is just the icing on the cake.

2. Kerrianne Gwin

I'm a sucker for the broken journaling line paired with the fun banner. The little bows are the perfect finishing touch. Kerrianne is always so fearless when it comes to color and patterns. Bravo!

3. Lea Lawson

I really love that every time I visit Lea's blog, I can count on finding something that makes me go "why didn't I think of that?!". Seriously. The little loopies in the twine paired with the detached "pennants" (which are really ice cream cones)...a fantastic touch that takes this from "been there, done that", to "gotta try that"! And did you notice here "exclamation point"? She's on fire!

4. Savitri Wilder

Savitri really has a way with simply chic. Love the way she's punched holes in the pennants to string her twine through, and the fact that she has intentionally layered and bunched them together. Her work always seems so effortless, kind of like that girl, you know the one...the one that rolls out of bed and without even trying, looks fabulous (cough, Kerrianne, cough).

5. Elise Durenberger

OK, I literally squealed when I saw this. If I were to be reincarnated, it would be as a stamp, and not just any stamp...a stamp in Ms. Elise's craft room please! The thought, the time, the creativity just oozes from everything she does. I can't believe she created this super fun collage using just Pile It On for all but 3 stamps! Can you find them, can you name the set they come from?

6. Jean Martin

First I am amazed at how Jean has taken this traditionally fun and graphic stamp set, and incorporated it into her shabby-chic style. I will admit, I feared that I might be throwing her a curve ball for her first stamp set on the Design Team. I didn't fear whether she could handle it, I worried that she would hate me. LOL But I have got to bow down and admire how amazingly well she has showcased just how versatile this set is. Did you see her samples yesterday? Amazing.

7. Cristina Kowalczyk

I am convinced that Cristina could craft with with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back! Her color choice is divine, execution is flawless, and the balance couldn't be more perfect. I especially love the fact that she chose black for her sentiment. The heavy color draws the eye down and keeps the design from feeling top-heavy.

Not only is this set perfect for cardmaking, but great for scrapbook layouts as well as Jinny always demonstrate so perfectly. June 2011 Release Day 3: Pile It On

Welcome back to day 3 of the Wplus9 June Release! We are having a blast sharing our sneak peeks at our newest stamps set, Pile It On, which will be available for purchase on June 1st at the store. I have been seeing a lot of ice cream popping up in the industry lately, and this set is spot on. Today I've got more CAS styles to share with you from this delicious set.

First up, a colorful card piled high with style.

I used the masking technique I shared with you in yesterday's post and video to create this triple decker cone. I started my sentiment on the front, and then finished it off on the inside with "birthday calories don't count!".

Keeping it very CAS on this next one, I focused on one of the candles included in the set and the "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

I'm over the moon for this one. Talk about mass produce potential! I started by stamping the candle repeatedly in graduating shades of pink across a horizontal strip of white cardstock.

Then, to frame the strip, I added the the dotted journaling line across the card base, underneath the row of candles. I added my sentiment offset to the right just above the strip.

To finish off this card, I flanked each side of the sentiment with the journaling line again, and adhered the row of candles using dimensional foam.

I loved this layout so much, I created a couple more in blues, greens, and yellows.

Have you seen the digital stamp set Cool Pops that was added to the store earlier this month? This is a perfect economical set for those quick Father's Day Cards and more. I just love coloring them in.

June 2011 Release Day 2: Pile It On & a Video

Welcome back to day 2 of the Wplus9 June Release! Did you get a chance to check out the Design Team's projects yesterday? Those ladies are amazingly talented! If not, don't worry, we've got more to show you today.

First up, a fast and fun party invite.

This card is full of style and mail friendly. For the front of the invite, I used the Pile It On steel rule die and October Afternoon's Schoolhouse and 5 & Dime patterned paper collections. On a side note, I believe OA has single-handedly converted me to a patterned paper lover! Fantastic color and patterns. Just love them. OK, back to the card. The Pile It On die includes a group of 3 pennants, making it easy to cut multiples and finish an invite like this in a snap. For my sentiment, I hand cut out a little banner, stamped "Join Us", inked the edges and added a little movement before I adhered it.

For the back, I trimmed out a panel 1/4" smaller than the base. On the panel I stamped the journaling line included in Pile It On 4 times. (I stamped two lines for the "Where", this is where I like to add the RSVP number or any special instructions). I added "For", "Where", and "When" under each line using the sentiments also included. I finished it off by repeating the pennants across the bottom. I just love how sophisticated and mature this looks in spite of using the pennant banner.
