December 2016 Release Week: Whimsy Alpha and Feathers & Florals with Yana

Today, I wanted to give a you look at the upcoming Whimsy Alpha stamp set and companion dies.

I am pairing them with the Feathers & Florals set that Kara shared yesterday. I can never have too many flower designs in my stash as I love to create my own unique floral backgrounds and patterns.

Whenever I create stamped patterns I tend to go with one layer backgrounds and do some simple masking (or no masking, like I shared here). To create the background for this card, I decided to skip masking and simply layer die cut flowers over the stamped leaves to add dimension and create the illusion of one continuous pattern.

While this particular stamp set is a layering one, one can still use layers as individual elements (I used small flower center dots to add yellow and light blue texture in the background).

I used several colors of ink to do my stamping. For the large flower I went with Hayride and Wild Mango; to stamp the small flower I used Shell Pink and Sweet Nectar; for the leaves I used Last Leaf and finally I incorporated a bit of Flamingo and a hint of Lake House.

A big bold pattern like this needs a big bold sentiment - and Whimsy Alpha is perfect. The main part of the sentiment, Bloom, was stamped using Whimsy Alpha. It features beautiful bold letters, perfect for creating your own wording. There are also companion dies available that make cutting these letters a very simple task.

The “You Are Simply Amazing” came from the Hand Lettered Thanks stamp set and was heat embossed in white embossing powder onto a strip of white cardstock. I used Shell Pink ink and colored my paper to match the rest of my project, as I didn’t have suitable color cardstock in my stash.

December 2016 Release Week: Feathers & Florals and Bold Banner Greetings with Kara

Kara here with you today sharing two beautiful new sets and coordinating dies that will be released on the 5th. These beautiful florals gave me the opportunity to use the newest additions to the PURE Color Dye Ink collection too!

First, let's just focus on these big beautiful blooms!

I die cut them using the coordinating die set and stamped them with PURE COLOR dye inks in Sea Breeze layered with Siren Song, Shell Pink layered with Little Piggy, and Mojito layered with Appletini. All of these duos are perfect compliments to each other!

Once all of my flowers and leaves were stamped I die cut the amazing Bold Banner and stamped a sentiment from Bold Banner Greetings. I mounted the sentiment on my acrylic block with a slight curve that mimics the curve of the banner. This banner is such a great size - large enough to span the width of your card and make a statement!

Assembly is fun and easy! I recommend positioning everything without adhesive first and then taking a photo like I mentioned in my last post.

I started by adding the banner to the white panel with a bit of dimensional adhesive, only in the center initially. This way all of your flowers and leaves can be tucked into place without the adhesive preventing things from going behind the banner. Once everything is adhered you can go back and place more dimensional adhesive under the banner wherever necessary.

I did some off-center layering of panels with some colored cardstock and vellum to add whimsy and interest.

December 2016 Release Week: Happy Gang with Joni

For this project I created a baby card. To begin, I stamped the images onto white cardstock with PURE COLOR Dye ink in Fairy Dust for the mouse, Hayride for the cat, and Warm Wool for the tiny mouse. I die-cut them all and then added some additional color using Copic markers to give them some depth and dimension.

Next, I stamped the happy balloon images using PURE COLOR dye ink in Shell Pink. Then I distressed the bottom of the card to ground the images using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Crushed Olive. I also added the "It's a girl" sentiment which is part of the set.

I added the final sentiment - which is also included in the set - "so very happy for you". I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink onto black cardstock and heat embossed it in white. I adhered the die-cut images with foam tape for a little extra dimension. Some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins finish it off.

I cannot wait for you to see the rest of new release. Kara will be here tomorrow with a brand new floral set!
