Epic Dad

Hello everyone! I'm back for my second installment of inspiration featuring the newly released products from the April 2014 Release. I hope you are enjoying the projects so far.

Let us start with the first card shall we?

My favorite go-to colors for dad are brown, white, light blue and a hint of red. I started with a panel that I stamped using the rope image from Dockside Backgrounds. I layered strips of white and brown card stock to stamp the first part of the sentiment from Epic Dad onto. I finished the sentiment with the "dad" die cut from the Epic Dad Companion Die and adhered it to a panel stamped with the wooden plank image also from Dockside Backgrounds. For the crown, I die cut it from gold foil, and perched it on top of the letter "a".

To finish off the card I added a strip of striped patterned paper in light blue on the side. For a little extra "something", I added some Onyx sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to the right side. This is a great alternative to adding buttons or even enamel dots if you are looking to add less bulk to your card.

For my second card, I can not help but to make another feminine card featuring Epic Dad. This set can also be perfect for creating feminine cards.

To begin, I distressed my card base with a little ink. Then I die cut the word "epic" from a card stock panel several times. I adhered the panel with the negative die cuts to the card base, and then stamped the epic sentiment, also from Epic Dad, into the negative spaces.

I made sure to die cut one "epic" from the center of my card where I would add my sentiment. Here, I stamped the resulting die-cut with the matching "epic" and placed it back into it's negative space. I then stamped "Mom" from Strictly Sentiments 4 directly over the word epic.

For the flowers, I used Spring Blooms to create a few watercolored flowers and leaves for the bottom of the card. Oh...before I forget, the "you're" sentiment is also from the Epic Dad stamp set. I masked off the word "swag" with washi tape before inking the stamp up, and I was left with just "you're".

I really love how this turned out :).

For my last card, I stamped the smaller dotted chevron image from Borders & Backgrounds 4 at the top and bottom of a white panel. And added some splat images from Ink Splats here and there.

To create the custom chipboard embellishment, I die-cut the "dad" once from gold foil, and four times from coaster board. I adhered them all together one on top of the other. (Tombow Mono Multi glue works great here, or even Glossy Accents. A strong even layer of adhesive will ensure that the layers don't start separating) Then, I adhered the chipboard piece onto another die cut that I stamped with the "dad" outline image from Epic Dad and adhered it with foam tape onto the card panel.

Finally, I just added some wood veneers from the Pretty Pink Posh Nature Embellishment Kit to finish it off.

Thank you so much for visiting and joining me for Day 2 of my projects. I hope that you have enjoyed it.

See you tomorrow for Day 3!

Have a WONDERFUL day!
