GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Lin Brandyberry

Hello, Lin Brandyberry here and I'm thrilled to be a Guest Designer on the Wplus9 blog! Wplus9 has something for everyone, from cute to elegant, and everything in between.

So when I started to think about what I would make for this spot, this Quilt Prints stamp set was one of the first things I thought of. It is a pretty simple set, but the elements in it allow us to make a million variations using it! I went looking through my Pinterest file on quilts, and saw one that used seaglass colors, and that's where I started. I ended up making 2 cards with this set.

For my first card, I filled my panel with the stitched pattern, stamped in a medium grey.

I used 3 shades of blues, punched with a bright spring green, and stamped the large diamond shape in horizontal lines of the same color, varying the pattern as I stamped across. I trimmed the panel down a tiny bit and then ran it through an embossing folder to give a real quilted, dimpled feel. Then I attached it to a light blue base, and added 5 layers of the Hand Lettered Hello die cut along with a stamped panel.

Here's a closer look to see the little patterns this stamp set has; I used a gingham, a floral, a houndstooth, and a dot.

For my 2nd quilt card, I left some white along the edges, adding an inner border, and used the same colors once again.

And a closer look to see the individual patterns, this time using 2 prints and a solid.

One of the things I like best about Dawn's company are her beautiful florals, so I knew I'd have to have a play with them for my last card today. I used a couple of her newest “modern” sets and combined them for my next card.

It was easier for me to stamp, color, and cut out my individual flowers, rather than trying to do a masked card this first time. I'll try that next time!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

~Lin

  10. I'm a real push-over for anything quilts, so your first two cards caught my eye right away. I was glad to see that the Quilt Prints stamp set was in stock, so I hurried and placed an order -- and I may have ordered a couple of other things two (wink wink). Funny how that happens. Thanks for the inspiration!

  15. I am head over heals in love with that first card, Lin. It's one of my current favorite color combinations and the embossing makes it look like a real quilt, which is another hobby of mine. I have that set but I haven't used it in a while. I'm pulling it out and leaving it on my desk until I get a card made. The second quilt card is wonderful too and the flowers are beautiful. You are a great guest designer.

  16. The quilt cards are stunning and look so realistic. What embossing folder did you use? I looked through mine and none of them will give that bumpy look.
