Hello crafty friends! Today I've got a little bit of a different video to share with you. I shared this over on YouTube a few days ago, and thought I'd pop in to share here as well for those that don't already follow over there. (which you totally should, BTW) ;)
Normally when I film a video, I recreate a card that I've already created prior to actually filming for brevity. It makes the filming process quicker and requires less editing and such. But, today, I just turned on the camera and started working through an idea. You'll be able to see the how the design evolves and how I adapt when execution doesn't quite match my original vision.
Although things did not go as planned with the second card, I do absolutely love the way it turned out. Thank goodness for small favors!
I stamped the floral cluster from Hello & Thanks onto Oatmeal card stock in Coconut Husk ink and colored it with Copic Markers. As you'll see in the video above, that didn't quite go as planned. To save it, I ended up stamping over the original with Versamark Ink and heat embossing it using Gold Embossing Powder. This added back in the badly needed definition I had lost during coloring.
To add a little interest to the background, I used a die to do some dry embossing. This is super easy to do by swapping out your cutting plates with your embossing ones.
I die-cut the image using the companion die and popped it up using foam adhesive. For the sentiment, I again used heat embossing and die cut the large hello using the companion die and popped that up as well. The rest of the sentiment was stamped directly on the card base in Coconut Husk.
Now this card did go as planned until the very end, when I managed to leave a big ol' fingerprint on the edge in black ink. Yeah, it happens to us all at one time or another.
I used all of the same supplies on this card, only I swapped out the cream base for a white one and stamped in Memento Black Ink instead of brown. To "fix" the fingerprint boo-boo, I trimmed down the panel to the first embossed line and adhered the panel using foam adhesive to my card base.
I hope you enjoyed today's project. As always, thanks for stopping by!
