September 2011 Release Day 3

It's day 3 already of our September release, and I am so excited to finally be able to share this set with you! I think you will love today's set and coordinating die as much as I do. I am happy to introduce to you A Pocketful and the coordinating A Pocketful die.

A Pocketful

  • is a 6x8 clear photopolymer stamp set
  • contains 32 stamps; 4 pocket images, 11 accent images and 17 sentiments and sentiment builders
  • will be available for purchase September 5th for just $19

A Pocketful Die

  • coordinates with A Pocketful stamp set
  • comes on a single die that can be easily snipped and separated
  • small pocket measures approx. 1 5/8" squared; large pocket measures approx. 2 5/8" squared
  • will be available for purchase September 5th for just $9

First, I just have to say that this set is jam packed with possibilities. It's a great all around, all occasion set to have on hand. It focuses all around pockets, and things to fill those pockets! For my first card, I wanted to send someone a little sunshine to help them on their way to recovery.

Isn't that just the cutest?! The set contains both a small pocket and a larger pocket. Most of the images are scaled to fit in the smaller pocket, but with some layer or masking, they can fill the larger pocket too. I started by die cutting several pockets using the A Pocketful Die.

You'll notice that this die has little connectors holding it together. These can be left in place or easily snipped and then sanded if you wanted to separate them and use them for negative cutting alone. For this card I used the small white die cut.

And stamped one of the pocket images included in the set onto it.I've included stitching details and texture on this image to make things that much faster for you to produce some realistic little pockets.

For the focal panel, I stamped the "Get Well" sentiment at the bottom, and then added the sentiment builders around it to say what I wanted. "Sending a pocketful of Get Well wishes". All of the sentiments are separate so that you can mix and match phrases and/or colors. Love that.

To get my spacing correct for my pocket filler, I layed down my die cut and then removed it to stamp my sun. I layered my focal panel over our Label Layers 2 Die and adhered that with foam tape over some ribbon and October Afternoon paper.

I think that would brighten someone's day, how about you?

OK, so remember how I said the boys pick favorites from each release? Well I usually end up with a favorite too...and this next card is it!

This one was a labor of love. The inspiration for the faux denim came from the amazingly talented Betsy Veldman. When I saw this shade of paper in my Nordic Holiday paper pad from Basic Grey, I knew I had to give it a go, but put my spin on it. I used the large pocket from the die cuts I had cut out and proceeded to stitch away for the pocket detail. I used a pair of my jeans as a guide but went quite a bit simpler.

Once I finished my stitching, I added some eyelets to simulate the rivet things on the pocket corners. (I knew these things would come in handy some day!)

I then did some paper piecing to create the waist band and belt loops and finished all of the denim off with a good dose of white washing/sand blasting.(or white ink in our world) To create the little "true blue" tag, I stamped the sentiment also included in the set onto some white cardsotck, roughed it up, added another eyelet and attached it with twine. I gave you a peek at that label earlier this week, it is also include in the set along with the "hello" and "Friend" sentiments.

I hope you have enjoyed today's previews as much as I have enjoyed sharing them with you.

Would you like to win A Pocketful and the A Pocketful Die? Leave me a comment by 11:59 PM EST September 3rd what you are most interested in seeing in the full reveal so far. I will select one random winner from all comments. Winners will be posted here.

Thanks for joining me and I hope to see you tomorrow as I preview a Halloween addition set for A Pocketful!
