Christmas Village Scene with Kelly

I don't know about you guys but I am loving our newest release, and over the weekend, I had an idea I just couldn't get out of my head. With me it almost always does!

I kept thinking about those old romantic Christmas pictures, you know the ones that have snow covered villages with an enormous town Christmas tree? Well, since I couldn't shake it I figured I'd better get busy making it!

I didn't concentrate so much on the copic coloring this time as much as I did the layout so the card would make sense. You can see what I mean in the video below.

Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube

I think the card concept is a ton of fun but I do wish I had went darker. I feel like that "glow" I was going for would have been much more apparent if I had been a bit bolder with my color. Lesson learned for next time. :)

Have you picked up anything from the new release yet? What are you making?

  2. This is GORGEOUS! Thank you for the inspiration. I have that other set with the tree and would not have thought to try using it with the houses.

  3. WOW, this card is amazing! I loved the video explaining the shading and perspective. I don't colour because shading and perspective is like another language to me I just don't understand it....but I so appreciate seeing someone else do it and explain it. It's like magic to watch as the houses appear to move back to the hills and behind the tree. Thanks so much I loved watching. Have a most spectacular day. Cheers Donna Z :)

  8. Wow, Kelly, I love the result of your vision and how you laid it down on paper. I can totally see a town "gathering" round this beautiful Christmas tree. Fantastic card.

Kelly - it is really refreshing to see somebody stamp without using a Misti. Misti is quite beyond my budget, (unfortunately), so its great to see someone just plain stamp with a block. Thanks.
