See U Soon Googly Eyes with Yana

Hello friends, this is Yana!

As I was playing with my stamps from WPlus9 (so thankful for the time-off work during Christmas as it resulted in lots of creative stamping!) I came across a fun “C U soon” sentiment (you can find it in the Friends For All Seasons: Summer stamp set). I immediately thought about using googly eyes and decided to make a fun interactive project.

I love to stamp my own unique patterns for my cards, so I started by pulling images from several stamp sets and bringing them together in one fun background. I went with several large and lots of small designs.

I used several images from multiple sets starting with a kite from the Friends For All Seasons: Summer. I stamped it 3 times onto a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ “ panel using Coconut Husk ink. Next I added adorable baby animals from the Happy Gang set - I stamped the kitty using Wild Mango and the teddy bear using Lake House ink. Brown, yellow and light blue always make a great color combination for both baby and everyday cards.

I also added a stamped Bonjour speech bubble, a tiny bee, and ducks from the Friends For All Seasons: Fall, a mouse from the Happy Gang set and finally a flower cluster from the Fresh Cut Wreaths set.

I still wanted to use the "C U soon" sentiment, but with my pattern being so busy and the sentiment being so small I felt I would loose it on my project. Instead, I used the Whimsy Alpha stamps and companion dies and stamped a much bigger and bolder "See U Soon" sentiment.

I used a layer of vellum and foam mounted my sentiment on top. Vellum helped to mute portion of the background and also helped the sentiment pop.

And of course, I adhered googly eyes to every kitty and teddy bear image and even added a set of eyes to the double "O" in my sentiment.

If you’d like to re-create this project, there’s one tip to keep in mind - when stamping partial kitties or teddy bears, make sure to stamp the head so that there’s enough room for the googly eyes. You can’t trim those off the edge of the card, so you need to plan ahead to make sure you’ll have enough space for the entire eye or both eyes on your partial impressions.

Have fun stamping!
