Color Cue {3} Challenge

Details:
Create a card, scrapbook page, digital layout, tag, whatever...just make sure to use the above colors. (I used PTI's Stamper's Select, Summer Sunrise, and SU!'s Bordering Blue and Cameo Coral) But anything you have on hand close to the colors will do. Since Bordering Blue is very specific, you can substitute gray or blue here. Sentiments or outlines in black are fine as well.

Create your project and post it to your blog or online photo gallery such as Flickr or SCS. Add a direct link to your project (not your homepage please) by clicking the "add your link" button below.

Deadline:
You have until May 7th at 11:59 pm EST to play along. You will know the deadline has passed when the link to add your project is no longer available.

Bonus:
If you have Wplus9 stamps in your stash already, now would be the time to bust them out. I will be collecting lucky participants to feature as "On Cue with Color" here on the blog and at The Studio. If you don't have any yet...don't worry I still want to be inspired by you and you will still be featured here on the blog!

I used Wplus9's Funky Foliage, and Just A Note, the birds from Practicing Creativity's Look Up, and PTI's Polka Dot Basics II.

Maile Belles used Wplus9's Woodgrain Silhouettes and Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions to create this clean and simple Mother's Day card. Love her use of ribbon here and the way she cleverly placed the buttons just under the focal image vs. the usual over.

Elise Durenberger worked her inking magic as usual using Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions. I must know how she did that. I'm picturing her sitting there with a paintbrush and an ink pad applying ink to that little bird stamp.

Savitri Wilder also used Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions and the sentiment from Funky Flowers to create this BEAUTY. Now I know that Savitri's colors aren't exactly on, but she totally get's a bi this month ladies. Some of you already know that she is in the midst of a move, and most of her craft supplies are on their way overseas to her new home. She has a small stash with her and is workin' it with the 6, yes 6 colors she has!

Now it's your turn! Add your link below.

Who's On Cue with Color

Renee Van Stralen

Another fabulous round of cards! I agonized over the last spot and went back and forth. I love everything about Renee's card. The textures, the balance, the way she used the colored punched circles behind some of the clear buttons. And that flower...yum!

All of the design team picked their personal favorites as well...and you'll notice Paulina's sample as a little "On Cue Feature" dot. Well hop on over to the homepage of the Studio, www.wplus9.com, and you'll notice she has a big banner devoted to her in the feature graphics slider!.

The next Color Cue will be up on the 15th, I hope you find some time to play again!

Release Sneak Peek: Day 3

ETA: Our lucky winner of the Woodgrain Silhouettes: Additions stamp set from yesterday's preview is #9 Alice Wertz who said: "i love those big leaves and those colors you used are gorgeous! fabulous cards!". Congratulations Alice! Contact me at customerservice@wplus9.com with your info to claim your prize within the next 48 hours.

I love reading all of your comments and especially love that you are enjoying what you are seeing so far. For today, totally unplanned, but it seems that I have a butterfly theme. Well, you can't very well have a nature set without a butterfly, can you?

I think this is my favorite card of the whole preview. Between both sets you will get 3 sizes of the same butterfly; 2 solids and 1 outline. The small solid and outlined butterfly are in Woodgrain Silhouettes, and that large beauty is in Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions. I used the two small images to create that fabulous pattern. First I stamped the solid randomly on a white strip of PTI's Stampers Select cardstock.

Then I came back in with the outline stamp and again, randomly stamped. Some outlines I lined up with the solid image, some were off, and some were way off and overlapping.

When I first finished this I thought, "well, that's not quite how I imagined it", and almost tossed it. But once I put the card together, I realized that it was so much better than I had imagined it! I finished this one off by punching out a "hole" with SU!'s Curly Label punch, and inside the negative space I stamped the largest butterfly. I added the sentiment from Funky Flowers. That cute little lattice strip? I created that by punching a strip of cardstock down both edges with the Martha Stewart Lattice punch.

This next card features the same butterflies, but here I paired them with ferns. I used the largest piece of fern/branch in the Additions set. At it's longest point it measures about 4" across. I stamped them first in Versamark and then "colored" them using SU!'s pastels. This created the soft, muted, chalk look I was going for. The "Mom" sentiment is from the Woodgrains Silhouette set.

On the inside I used the perfect sentiment for Mothers and Fathers alike, also from Woodgrain Silhouettes. I love this sentiment because it really is universal and appropriate for anyone who has been a positive influence in your life.

And finally, for my last card of the preview. Both of these crocus flowers are included in the Additions set. I am still trying to refine my coloring skills, so instead, I opted to stamp these outlined images in white onto PTI's Scarlet Jewel cardstock.

That's all of the projects I have to share with you for now. But the Design Team will have samples to share with you over the next couple of weeks as well. And tomorrow I will show you the sets in their entirety before they go on sale Friday.

Would you like to win your choice of these sets? It's easy, all you have to do is leave a comment by 11:59 pm EST Wednesday April 7th. I will randomly select one winner to receive their choice.

Good luck and thanks again, so much, for all of the kind comments that you guys leave. They really brighten my day.

Release Sneak Peek: Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions

First, let me congratulate our lucky winner of yesterday's set Woodgrain Silhouettes: Monica L. who said "Oh I love nature! I can't wait to see more of this set. I hope I win!". Monica, email customerservice@wplus9.com with your info to claim your prize within the next 48 hours!

Today's set was designed with all of you scrap-bookers in mind. The images are perfectly scaled for layouts as well as cards. If you follow me, you know that I love stamps that allow me to pull together a card quickly when I'm short on time, but also have enough flexibility when I want to take my time and experiment.

Woodgrain Silhouettes: Additions contains 13 generously sized images that compliment Woodgrain Silhouettes beautifully.

For my first sample, I wanted to show you that a masculine card doesn't have to be dull or boring. Just look at this bright and fresh Father's Day card.

I used the Father's Day sentiment and woodgrain background stamp from yesterday's set, Woodgrain Silhouettes. I paired it with some fern images and one of the birds included in today's set. First I stamped the ferns in Versamark onto PTI's Aqua Mist cardstock and embossed in white. Then I came back in and stamped the woodgrain background with Versamark as well. Don't you just love that soft effect?

For my next card I wanted to create a monochromatic, soft, feminine card using PTI's Blush and Berry Sorbet.

I used one of the large leaf images to create a stunning background. These leaves are incredible and measure in at approx. 3" across at there longest point. Talk about the perfect size for a layout or creating patterned paper in a snap. To finish this card off I used a crocus flower image and a sentiment from yesterday's set.

And finally, I always like to have everyday card sets on hand. They are great when you are in a pinch, or even as gift sets. And these big bold images make it easier than ever to mass produce.

For these 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" cards I used the other bird included in today's set. This little guy is too cute and measures approx. 1 1/4" x 1 1/4". The perfect size to hold it's own as a focal image, don't you think?

What did I tell you? I wasn't lying when I said I was having the hardest time putting these sets down.

Want to win today's set? Leave me a comment telling me what you like most so far by 11:59 pm EST Tuesday, April 6th. I will select one random poster to receive the Woodgrain Silhouettes: Additions stamp set.

That's it for today, thanks so much for stopping by, and be sure to check in tomorrow for even more samples (and another chance to win).
