Hello! Today's post is a photo heavy one...and fun! I finally got a chance to sit down and play with some of our newest stamps and dies - The Crew. These are a new installment from the talented Stephany Zerbe that I have fallen hard for.
I've been in a creative slump lately. It happens. However, over the holidays I received a card from Natasha Valskovaya (@craftawaywithme on Instagram) that instantly inspired me! I share her original card in the video below so be sure to watch, it is awesome.
I made a few changes to fit the images and scenes that I had in mind using both The Crew: Garden Club and The Crew: School Days stamp sets.
Before filming, I did do a little research, and did discover that there are dies on the market that will cut all of the pieces to create "Shadow Box" cards - Lawn Fawn makes a great one that I'll link to in the supplies below - but I needed a little bigger finished product. Something closer to an A2 sized card that would still fit in an A2 envelope.
These are actually easy to create. They seem tricky at first, but after the first one...they are super simple. I ended up creating 3 in one sitting. You can watch me create the little garden scene in the video below.
The entire box is constructed from one piece of 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock. Here is a quick overview of how to cut the cardstock to create the pieces needed.
I had stamped and colored lots of the images from The Crew sets, so I was able to put together a few scenes. I think this one is my favorite.
I combined the images from both sets to create a little artist's studio. I reused the easel stamps to create the artwork "hanging" on the back wall. I simply masked off the legs of the easel while inking the stamp, removed the mask, and then stamped onto the "wall". I then stamped some of the additional images from the sets onto the blank canvas to create little pieces of artwork.
After looking around some, I realize that this is not a new technique, but it is definitely a "new to me" technique. And perhaps it will be for you too!
I was also able to create a portrait version by just adjusting my measurements a little. This time I added the extra half inch to the 4 1/4" inch side of the card front - using a 4.75 x 5.5" panel.
As always, thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed today's project!
