Happy Love Birds

Hey Guys, it's Kara. I've already started to see your projects show up on your blogs and Instagram feeds using the February release and they are gorgeous! With so many great sets and dies released, it wasn't difficult to qualify for the Free Biggest Fan stamp set. If you haven't already, don't forget, today is the last day to qualify for this FREE set! Today I have paired it with another new favorite, Happy Birds, to create some one-of-a-kind Valentines for my husband.

I bought him a few little, silly treats and wanted to package them up in a way that made them seem a little more special.

Let's start with the card. I created the frame using the Sunshine Layers Die and the Anastasia Tag Die. I stamped the 'I just love you' sentiment from Biggest Fan at the top. The little love birds are stamped, die cut and colored with Copics. I created a male and female bird by adding a cute little bow and bowtie using the Unforgettable Dies.

By using a small hole punch, I was able to punch holes in the card front and tie the cinnamon toothpicks on with some cotton twine. Attaching the card front to the Cupids Bow card base {my favorite red by the way} with foam tape allowed room for the knots on the back of the card front.

I also picked up some Cherry Pop Rocks for him. I decided to create matchbook style packaging to hold them. And it's really easy to do.

Instructions:
  1. Cut a piece of card stock to 8.5 x 3.5 inches
  2. Score horizontally (across the short side) at 1 inch and again at 6.25 inches
  3. Fold at score lines and staple your treats inside
  4. Embellish

I embellished the front with more love birds, that awesome sentiment from Biggest Fan and sprinkled around a few hearts from the Backgrounds and Borders 3 stamp set. I can't wait to give these to Ryan on Valentine's Day. He really is a dork, but hey, so am I ;)

I also made him a batch of his favorite Molasses Cookies.  Visit my blog if you're interested in the recipe.

VIDEO: Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas w/a Feminine Twist

Hello everyone! Today I have the honor of participating in 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist Challenge with Ellen Hutson. The assigned theme was "ornaments" and I decided to interpret it as a tag that can double as an ornament. Or should I say tag(s)! As usual, once I got started I couldn't stop and created four variations using the same basic technique and layout.

In the video below, I'll share how to use your dies and fun foam to create easy faux watercoloring, as well as how to add foil accents using the Heidi Swapp Minc Toner Pen and the Minc Mini Machine.

Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube

I completed each tag a little differently, but used the same basic layout and supplies for each.

I want to thank Ellen for inviting me to play along and I hope that you play along as well. Be sure to stop by the Ellen Hutson blog for all of the details and a chance to win a $150 store credit to ellenhutson.com.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

October 2015 Release Week: Day 2

Hello everyone, welcome back to the Wplus9 October 2015 release. It's Joni, and I'm here to introduce the new stamp set and dies that I designed - Holiday Hugs and the Anastasia Tag Die.

Holiday Hugs
3x4" Clear Stamp Set
$6 USD

Holiday Hugs Companion Die
Steel Rule Die
$8 USD

Anastasia Tag Die
Steel Rule Die
$18 USD

To begin my card I first white heat embossed the sentiment from Holiday Hugs.

Next,  I watercolored the sentiment panel let it dry and added the new Red enamel dots from Wplus9. Then I stamped the stamp image on a regular white cardstock, colored with Copics, and die-cut the image with its coordinating die. I added the foam tape on the back of the die-cut then adhered.

Next, I added some twine at top of the card to finish off the card.

For my second card, I stamped the birch tree using from an old time favorite set Winter Woodland and distressed the background with Distress ink pad in Evergreen Bough after masking the trees.

Once the whole top panel dried, I stamped the sentiment "sending warm Holiday Hugs" in Versamark ink, and heat set it with gold embossing powder.

Next, I die-cut other white cardstock piece using Landscape Border dies to create the white slope behind the bear and the girl. For the final touch I added some liquid pearls in white opal of the dimension of snow on the card.

For my final project of the day, I created a tag using the new upcoming Anastasia dies with Holiday Hugs stamp set. I first die-cut the tag without the die-cut center and distress the center with Distress ink in Peacock feather. Then I die-cut another tag this time with coordinating oval center die to create a window for the image.

Next, I stamped the bear and the girl on a white cardstock colored with Copics and die-cut. I adhered the bear/girl with foam tape for added dimension along with the window tag on top of the other. I also added some die-cut boughs from the new upcoming Holiday Boughs stamp set. For the sentiment I white heat embossed on black cardstock, cut, and adhered on top of the tag.  I added some new Wplus9 red enamel dots on top of the die-cut bough to finish off the card.

I hope you guys enjoyed these new products. Let's see what the rest of the design team has been up to!
