Vintage Happy Holidays with Joni

Hello Everyone! Joni here sharing some of my favorite holiday stamps from Wplus9. Merriest Wishes, Merry Little Christmas, Holiday Boughs, and Holiday Trimmings.

First, I stamped the elf from Merriest Wishes and colored him with Copic Markers. Next I distressed the background using a sponge dauber using Fairy Dust Dye Ink and distressed the same spot with the Sea Breeze Dye Ink. This give more of a vintage look I am going for.

Then, I splattered the background with Winsor and Vewton gouache in white, to give that snowy background to the card. Next, I finish off the card by stamping the sentiment "Happy Holidays" from Holiday Boughs. I inked the stamp using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using gold embossing powder.

I used the same background technique for the next card. But this time I used the retired Merry Little Christmas stamp set and colored the image with Copic Markers. Although this set is retired, it is always nice to have some fresh inspiration for those that may already own it, right? And ways to use your older stash with newer items is always a plus!

After distressing the card and splattering it, I then stamped the Holiday Boughs on the top of the card. I also added some red Stickles on the ornament and on his hat. I finished off the card with sentiments from Holiday Trimmings and Holiday Boughs.

I hope you've enjoyed this fresh look at these oldie but goodies.

Simple Tree Shape with Holiday Trimmings Stamp with Yana

Hello, friends! I hope you are having a great stamping week! Today I have a simple to make Christmas card that features images from the new Holiday Trimmings stamp set.

This is a great set if you like to mix and match and customize images to your liking. I used just the ornaments and compiled them into a Christmas Tree shape. I wanted to stick to traditional Holiday colors so I went with red and green. I used Last Leaf and Appletini as well as Gala Red and Cranberry Crush inks.

I started working on this card by stamping the sentiment, Merry Christmas, in black ink. This one comes from the Hand Lettered Holiday set. Next, I stamped bottom line of the ornaments forming the base of my Christmas trees. You can make your tree smaller and have more white space on the card by skipping one line and having the shape consist of 3 lines only.

I did stamp one of the ornaments upside down, but I kind of liked it and keeped that ornament as is (after I added the ornament topper you can’t even tell it was stamped incorrectly).

I tried to alternate shape and color to make this card look more interesting. Once my tree shape was done I used filler elements and stamped them in same colors as well as black making my ornaments multicolor.

I trimmed my panel to 4 x 5 ¼” and foam mounted onto an A2 side folding card base. I thought about adding gems and at one point added a strip of patterned paper, but later decided to go without any additional embellishments and keep this card as simple as it was.

Have fun stamping!

VIDEO: Modern and Graphic Holiday Cards with Dawn

I finally squeezed in some time to do another video! And of course, wouldn't you know...I need a manicure again. Oh well, it is what it is!

Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube

Hopefully today's plethora of cards will make up for it. I've got a ton to share, so settle in.

I've settled on my holiday cards this year and I love that they are easy to mass produce and that I can add a little sumpin' sumpin' extra to them if I have time.

I've chosen a few different color schemes of the same design for several different looks. In the above cards, I paired our Dove Grey Cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Candied Apple. I love the classic Christmas look these have.

In the cards below, I chose to go with a more rustic combo of Kraft Cardstock and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Cracked Pistachio.

The Alpha Whimsy stamp set is the star of the show here. And although it isn't a "holiday" stamp set, by adding in the images from Holiday Trimmings, it does the job perfectly!

I mounted the letters for my design onto the Mini MISTI stamping tool and replaced the "O"s and "A" with images from Holiday Trimmings. I stamped them in Wplus9 White Pigment Ink onto several different neutral colored cardstocks. I then shifted the panels slightly up and to the right and stamped again using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink.

To kick it up a bit, I chose to add a few heat embossed details. I selected a few different metallics and glitters depending on the individual card colors. In the above card, I just had to contrast the rustic Kraft cardstock with some icy WOW! Metallic Platinum Sparkle embossing powder.

The next set of cards feature a classy combo of Coal Mine Cardstock and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean.

I even loved the combo of Dove Grey Cardstock, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean, silver and white.

As I mentioned in the video, these are great for mass production. This set of 12 or so took an hour to do while filming. And, there are several different phrases that you could try - Holiday Cheer, Let It Snow, Ho, Ho, Ho, Fa La La La La, Warm Wishes - just to name a few.

My favorite from the bunch keeps changing, I lean towards the dark ones, but then again, that Kraft and Green w/Silver really speaks to me too! Which one is your favorite?

I hope you've enjoyed today's post, thanks for stopping by!
