Making Old New Again w/Kara

Hello! I'm back with another holiday card to share with you. I've pulled out some of my older favorites and mixed in a few new dies to create a winter scene.

Because of the size and shape of this stamp from Snowflake Backdrops it feels like you're looking through a window watching the snow fall. I love to add two colors of blue to the stamp before applying it to my cardstock panel. I tend to reach for Nautical Navy and Lake House dye ink for this.
I die cut Simple Snowflake from vellum and the largest snowflake from Snowflake Trio out of white cardstock and layered them up. On top of that I placed the happy holidays banner from the new Holiday Presents Die.

I tucked in the little heart that I die cut using the heart die from Cookies & Cocoa. I added a few gemstones to finish it off.
I hope today's post has inspired you to revisit some of the existing items in your stash! As always, thanks for stopping by!

Glittered Snowflakes w/Dawn ft. FOLK ART FLURRIES

Hello crafty friends! I'm back with more glitter! I know, I know...glitter. I'm blaming it on the holiday season.

But, in my defense, it's glitter embossing powder. So slightly less traumatic. ;o) And can you blame me? These cards are gorgeous, and pretty easy to pull together. So easy in fact, that I created a trio of them. Be sure to watch below to see how these all came together.

Watch above or watch in HD at YouTube

I've been on a kick with the glittered embossing powders lately. I love how quickly you can add tons of sparkle to your projects without a lot of fuss. I paired a few of them up with our Folk Art Flurries stamp set to stamp a fun glittered patterned paper of snowflakes.

I also used the glitter embossing powders to create some DIY glitter cardstock to die cut snowflakes from them using our Snowflake Trio Die. They make a beautiful backdrop for the sentiments when layered together on top of a dry embossed snowflake created using our Simple Snowflake Die.

There are tons of glitter embossing powders on the market, but you can also create your own. This is perfect if you want to test the waters and see if it's something you'd like, before jumping in to purchase.

I mixed equal parts of a colored embossing powder and loose glitter together to create this one. I just love the depth of color and shimmer I was able to create.

The clean and simple layout of this card set really lets that sparkle and shine take center stage without competing with it. I left everything monochromatic and let the embossing powders add the color. Even the sentiment, die cut from Oatmeal cardstock using our Holiday Presents Die, was left tone-on-tone.

The entire focal point is compact and centered on a label from our Holly Jolly Die. I love how big this label is. It definitely carries the card and keeps all of the focus right where it should be.

All of the cards were finished off with a sprinkling of jewels from Studio Katia and Pretty Pink Posh. I've linked all of the products I used on today's projects below. I wasn't able to find a few, perhaps they've been discontinued, so in some cases I've linked good substitutions where applicable.

I really don't usually hit the glitter this hard, but like I said, I'm gonna blame it on the Holiday's! How about you? Is there something that you reserve just for the Holiday's?

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope your weekend is going well!

Holiday Bear Hugs With Kara

Hello Guys! It's Kara and I'm back with a few more Christmas cards. I am having so much fun going back through all the previously released Christmas sets and falling in love with them all over again!

Holiday Hugs is one of those sets; a small stamp set that packs a huge punch. The main bear image is so sweet and can be colored in so many ways. The set also includes the perfect little gift box accents and large sentiment. A coordinating die set is also available.

I've also pulled out the Simple Snowflake Die. This is another favorite because the large size is perfect for gift tags, focal point images, or windows. Using this die as a window is my favorite way to use it. Here I've tucked my bear and little girl inside the window and backed it with black to make the image pop!

A lot of Wink Of Stella on the red and a few gems are all the embellishment you need to make it come to life! I love these and I think I'm going to make a few more.

How is your holiday cardmaking coming along? If you're still in need of a few more or haven't started yet, I think these are so cute and they come together so quickly! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Christmas Thank You Cards With Kara

Hi, Kara here today to share my annual Christmas Thank You cards. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and whether you celebrate Christmas or not, these winter themed Thank You cards are appropriate to say thanks for any reason.

I knew I wanted to make at least 10 cards. I started by making one prototype and then mass producing the rest. I made slight changes after the prototype, mainly with dimension. I love dimension, but I promised myself that these cards would not require extra postage and would be easy to mail!

First, I did all of my die cutting. I cut everything from white cardstock. 10 each of the largest and second to largest sized rectangles from the 4 Bar Stitched Rectangle Die - 20 in all - 10 deer, 10 cardinals and 10 scarves from the Winter Woodland Die. I positioned the Simple Snowflake Die on the top, center portion of the smaller stitched panel and cut all 10 snowflake windows.

Now that all of the die cutting was done it's time for stamping. I stamped all of the deer die cuts with Coconut Husk ink and the cardinals and scarves with Cranberry Crush ink. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom portion of the small panel in Black ink using the new Bold Banner Greetings stamp set. On the larger stitched panel I stamped the tree from Winter Woodland in Coconut Husk and two more cardinals on the branches using Cranberry Crush again.

Finally, it's time to assemble. I positioned the die cut cardinal on top of the "s" in "kindness", and added a little Wink Of Stella. I added the scarves to all of the deer, and again added a little Wink Of Stella. I adhered the deer to the center of the large panel and then layered the small panel over top with just a bit of thin dimensional adhesive. A little dimension, but not too much!

A Winter Woodland scene through a Simple Snowflake window! All of those left over die cut snowflake were put to good use on some personalized Christmas tags! Thanks so much for stopping by!
