Friendship Valentine Card with Yana

Valentine’s Day cards, I think, are not just for the love birds, but can be given other people - friends, family, even co-workers.

Hello friends, this is Yana and today I’m sharing an example of such a card created using some older products from WPlus9.

I filmed a video tutorial showing my cardmaking process from start to finish.

I wanted to use “Hugs & Kisses & Valentine Wishes” sentiment from the the Valentine Wishes stamp set for my card. I decided to alter the sentiment a bit and use large Whimsy Alpha letters to spell Hugs Kisses.

I stamped my letters in Falling For Blue ink, cut them out using companion dies and also created a banner stamped in Lake House with “Valentine Wishes" stamped in Falling For Blue.

After foam mounting letters and banner onto a Dove Grey cardstock panel I added selective dry embossing using my bone folder and scoring board just like I did in their post here; I’m rather enjoying this old technique these days - I feel it lets me easily add unique texture to my cards.

I also stamped and cut out images using Fresh Cut Florals stamp set. I used Silver Lining as well as Bloomsberry and Cockleshell ink colors for my stamping and added little floral details to my sentiment cluster.

Clean & Simple Valentine's Day Card with Yana

Some of you will say that it’s too early to even begin thinking about Valentine’s Day, not to mention make love cards! And you are probably right. But I honestly am a bit tired of the Christmas projects at the moment (I think I’m all Christmas-ed out in terms of making cards; I’m all into Christmas decor right now), so I wanted to make a quick Valentine’s Day card for my hubby and step away from the Holiday cardmaking. Be sure to save this post or pin this card idea and come back to it before February 14th.

I used two stamp sets to create this card - a stunning floral heart from the Fresh Cut Wreaths stamp set (see more inspiration using this set here - I simply adore it for elegant & simple cards and Valentine’s Wishes set for the sentiment.

I stamped my wreath using two colors of ink - Last Leaf and Appletini (I inked up the bottom portion of the wreath using the darker green) and added flowers in Little Piggy & Cranberry Crush. I just wanted to have pinks and green on this project although this wreath is designed in such a way that you can easily stamp flowers using different ink colors.

I also stamped a banner and sub sentiment onto a separate piece of paper and cut it out using a companion die. Together with the main sentiment stamped inside the wreath it reads “”Love You Still. Always Have, Always Will”.

To add texture to this card I used my scoring board and added simple score lines every half of an inch avoiding the wreath area. So easy to do and the result, I think, is stunning. This might be my new favorite technique. We’ll see!

I adhered my stamped and scored background onto an A2 side folding card base, foam mounted my die cut banner on top and added a tiny pearl onto every line crossing to add a bit of elegance to this card.

I can’t say this a guy Valentine’s Day card, but I love the way it turned out, so that’s the card my hubby is going to get!

Colored Pencil and Heat Embossed Holiday Boughs with Yana

Hello, friends! I hope you are having a great stamping week! Today I’m sharing a pencil colored and heat embossed Holiday card.

I started working on my card by stamping a sentiment from the Be Merry set in Silver Lining ink onto Coal Mine cardstock. I used a stamp positioner and kept my stamp on the door of my stamping platform to be able to stamp it again in the same spot on my panel.

Next, I colored banner and the inside of the letters in the word Merry using Polychromos pencils. Later I colored and heat embossed identical banner on white cardstock and foam mounted it onto my card as I wanted the red to be a bit more vibrant on this card.

I also stamped pine branches from the Holiday Boughs set in same gray ink framing my sentiment. Using several green Polychromos pencils I colored each branch creating a hand-drawn look.

Once my coloring was done I replaced the panel inside my stamp platform and stamped the sentiment again in clear embossing ink. I also stamped berry and pine branches and heat embossed everything in white embossing powder.

After adhering my panel onto an A2 top folding card base made out of white cardstock I added red berries using Nuvo Drops in Red Berry color and foam mounted an identical but brighter banner on top.

I definitely enjoyed creating the subtle greenery look you see on this card, although same effect can be achieved using pigment ink. I don't always like to use pigment ink as it takes a long time to dry, so I used colored pencils instead. Let me know what you think!
