You are Sweet & Strong Fruit Card with Yana

Hello friends! This is Yana and I hope you are having a fabulous week!

I got carried away a bit the other day playing with my Summer Citrus stamps and created yet another simple to make card featuring oranges and (possibly?) grapefruits. As I was looking for inspiration for my cards I searched for “fruit illustration” on Pinterest and stumbled upon a multitude of fantastic ideas! I still have many of them open on my computer, so I’ll probably end up making more cards using these stamps.

I started working on this card by randomly stamping circles in Hayride and Miami Spice onto a white cardstock panel cut to 4 x 5 ¼”. I overlapped many of the circles and added more towards the top of the card and less at the bottom.

Next, I used a coordinating outline stamp and added a shade darker outlines to each of the stamped circles. I used Pumpkin Spice and Sweet Nectar colors. I also stamped leaves directly onto the panel anywhere where I could find a spot without overlapping these with other images. I used Last Leaf and Appletini colors.

Using a dotted cluster stamp I added what looks like ink splatter onto the background and adhered my panel onto an A2 top folding card base.

To add even more green I stamped and die-cut additional leaf clusters and foam mounted them onto the card. As I was doing so I made sure to keep one section of the card free from any additional layers and reserved that space for a sentiment. Lastly, I stamped "You are Sweet & Strong" from Southern Sentiments message in black ink.

Have fun stamping!

Lemon Tree Branches Pattern Card with Yana

Hello friends! This is Yana and I hope you are having a fabulous week!

I adore creating my own custom patterns using stamps so I couldn't resist creating one using delicious images from the Summer Citrus stamp set.

As I was going through various pattern ideas in my head I decided to use a branch stamp from the All Year Cheer set and not only stamp lemons, but create lemon tree branches!

Watch my video tutorial:

I started working on my card by stamping a sentiment first. I went with the one that reads “When Life Gives You Lemons - Put Them In Your Sweet Tea” from the Southern Sentiments set and stamped it in black ink onto the middle-right part of my white cardstock panel cut to 4 x 5 ¼”. Having the sentiment in place first allowed me to create the pattern around it and avoid having my images overlap.

Next, I stamped 4 branches in Last Leaf ink coming in from the left and right edges of my panel and added leaves using the pineapple crown image from the Summer Citrus set. I stamped the base layer in same Last Leaf and added detail in Appletini.

I am not always a fan of masking, so I stamped, die-cut and popped my images up instead. I used Wild Mango and Pumpkin Spice colors to stamp both small and large lemons, cut the images out and foam mounted them onto my panel. Lastly, I added dotted detail stamped in Appletini ink onto panel to complete the card.

You can use the same idea to create patterns using other fruits, not just lemons. Think oranges, kiwis, grapefruit etc.

Summer Citrus Patterns with Dawn

Hello! It is the middle of summer and it definitely feels like it here in Florida. It makes it so hard to start planning for Christmas stuff, so guess what, I won't just yet! Let's keep it bright and fun for a bit longer. Yeah?

I just love this card set and it's right up my "staple design" alley. Clean with a vintage yet modern feel. These images pair perfectly with the new Southern Sentiments, don't you think? I've used this universal sentiment set on all of my cards today.

The main card features an all-over pattern using the solid lemon and lime (inked up as lemons) images from Summer Citrus. For the leaves, I wanted the more vintage vibe, so I chose some of the leaves from our Southern Summer Florals 1 set instead of using the more modern/graphic leaves included in Summer Citrus. I chose to stamp a few of the elements on separate cardstock, die cut them using their companion dies and pop them up using foam tape for this card.

For the other cards in the set, I stamped the same pattern across a little more than half of the card and added my sentiment to the right hand side. I stamped and heat embossed the sub-sentiment in white on black cardstock and then popped it up on foam tape. I also opted to change the color of the blossoms on this one from pink to yellow - just to switch things up a bit.

All of the images for all of these cards were inked up using the rock and roll technique. So I inked them up with one color and then rolled the edges of the stamp in a darker color to create a transition of colors when stamping. This is one of my all time favorite techniques. It is so simple and really adds a lot of impact with minimal effort.

For the next card, I wanted to showcase a totally different look using the same stamp set. I am really enjoying the versatility of this set!

By using the solid images and outlined images from the set together, I am able to pull of this more retro looking pattern. I started by cutting a mask using the Basic Labels Die and placing it in the upper third of my card front. I stamped a bunch of outlined images in black and then filled in some of them with their solid partners. I left some uncolored and offset some others when stamping.

After I removed the mask, I stamped the label in Fairy Dust and then stamped my sentiment on top of the label in Black. Bonus? This is a completely one layer card! Score. I can't wait to try it in some other colors. I think it would look amazing in oranges and pinks.

I have more to share with you guys featuring this set, along with the new Citrus Background Builders, so stay tuned for that. And, I will definitely be making card sets using the oranges and pineapples using the layout from today's card set!
