Fun Cards for Kids

Hello everyone! I am back with inspiration using some older Wplus9 stamp sets. In honor of the month of hearts, I created this fun face cards for kids. They are easy to make and our kids can join with the fun creating these fun cards for their friends and classmates.

To start, I cut the card panel just a little bit smaller than an A2 card, then started stamping the fun face for the card. For the eyes I used the clouds from the Heartfelt Mix stamp set and the circles from the Little Bits stamp set. For the lips I used the long set of strings from the Heartfelt Mix stamp set, and the heart nose is from theLittle Bits stamp set.

I added a couple of different sentiments using the Milk & Cookies stamp set to make each one a little different. I also added another sentiment inside the card "Happy Valentine's Day" from the Knock Knock Valentine stamp set. To finish off the card I added a little "blush" using a Distress Ink Blending Tool and a little ink.

Introducing the PURE COLOR South Beach Collection

Are you ready for summer?

I know I am! This is Kara and after a long cold winter in the northeast I've been dreaming of somewhere warm, sunny, and full of color; somewhere like South Beach, Miami. It's no wonder Dawn chose this vibrant city as the inspiration for WPlus9's new Pure Color Dye Ink Collection!

With names like Mojito, Miami Spice, and Flamingo, they really had me inspired.

The colors are vivid and eye-catching! If you love the Original 10 Collection you are going to love these too. They have the same great properties that we love about the original inks, for example, the awesome coverage! Each of these die cut letters has been colored with the new ink using a finger dauber.

I used images from the Dockside stamp set to represent the letter in the word or the object that the word spells out.

Several of the teacher's that I work with are retiring at the end of this school year. I made this card for one of them. I think it's a fun and funny sentiment for retirement.

It's like they are jumping ship and leaving us high and dry.  'S.O.S! Man Overboard', get it? ;)

You can't think of Miami without picturing a sunset. The colors in this collection make a beautiful one. I created a mask for the sun by die cutting a circle and then trimming off the bottom slightly. Then I swiped the ink pads directly onto the card stock. With a finger dauber, I added just a bit of color to the masked circle so it wasn't a stark white. To create silhouettes, I stamped some leaves from Spring Blooms and images from Dockside in black ink. To finish it off, I sprayed the whole thing with  shimmer mist to capture the feeling of scintillation.

I chose a sentiment from Heartfelt Mix that reflects the feeling you get from a little R&R, refreshed and renewed. OK, now I need a vacation! Thanks for stopping by.

In the days ahead Dawn, The Design Team, and I will be sharing more South Beach inspiration.

Birds & Branches Frame Die Two Ways

Hi, it's Maureen here sharing projects using products from the April/May release.  Today I am sharing two cards featuring the Birds & Branches Frame Die.

Large Frame Dies like Birds & Branches allow you to really be creative.  You can keep them simple or really dress them up.

For my first card I wanted to focus on the negative space.

I've been playing around with Distress Markers and watercolor paper a lot lately.  Creating backgrounds like the one above is quick and easy!  Just follow these steps...

Watercolor Backgrounds with Distress Markers

  1. On a piece of watercolor paper, start coloring with your lightest color. Note: Messy coloring is fine, it does not have to be perfect
  2. Color with your next color, overlapping the colors a bit.
  3. Continue adding desired colors using the same method.
  4. Mist the card stock with water. For more extreme water spots, try taking the top off of your mister and flicking water onto the paper. Allow to air dry, or use a heat tool to speed up drying.

I'm a CAS girl, so I kept the rest of my card nice and clean.  The Black Cardstock looks like a silhouette in a night sky.  The stark contrast of the black against the color is just stunning.

My next card uses a much softer palette.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: Strictly Sentiments 4, Valentine Wishes // Dies: Birds & Branches, Timeless Tags 2 // Cardstock: Sweet Gelato

This time I let the beautiful details of the Birds & Branches Frame Die shine.  I popped the frame up and placed vellum card stock in between the Birds & Branches Frame Die and the card base.  This really softens the look. I added a tag from Timeless Tags 2 and stamped an image from Valentine Wishes.  This little wreath was the perfect size for the bird to perch in.  The sentiment, from Strictly Sentiments 4, was stamped in Sweet Gelato ink.  This card would be perfect for mom for Mother's Day or any other day of the year.

I hope you like my projects today.  I'll be back tomorrow with more.  See you then!
