Copics & Colored Pencils w/Kelly ft. SYMPATHY LILIES

Hello Crafters! I don't know about you but I need a break from all the cold, snow cards. I typically lose my mojo in the winter months and I've found one of the ways to combat that is to break out of my routine.

In order to get out of my funk I went with a brightly colored floral card today. AND I'm really happy about it :)

I used several sets out side of their original themes today and I would encourage you to do the same. Lilies aren't just for sympathy cards and a Christmas banner can be used anytime of the year.

I pulled out several sets and just started playing around. The card didn't end up the way I originally intended but I think it looks better than my first plan, so I'm winning, right?

While I'm not typically one who usually adds colored pencil to my projects, in this case I think it really does bring the colors together like I explained in the video above. It also gives a great texture to the leaves and flowers which I really like.

Even though I didn't originally think about trimming the flowers out of the bouquet, I'm glad I tried it. I never would have stamped the background leaves in green if I hadn't disliked the original background so much. Talk about happy accidents!

Merry And Bright w/Kara

Hello! Kara  here and I'm starting to build up my Christmas card stash so that when the time comes I am all set and am not scrambling to get my cards done. I thought a few small stamps from the new Butterfly Mandala set could make a beautiful holiday background!

I started by making a light pencil line vertically in the center of my card panel. I used that line as a guide for stamping the leaf and bud stamp in a straight line. Once they were stamped straight it made filling in the rest very easy to eyeball. You could certainly draw more lines with your ruler to get them absolutely perfect, but I think it turned out great.

I added a bit of color with my Copic markers to the leaves and buds as well as to the Merry in this awesome sentiment from Be Merry. I added a bit of shadow to it with a die cut piece in black cardstock. It helps the sentiment stand out from the background.

I think this design is easily reproducible for mass production. It's bright and festive with just a minimal amount of coloring! Thanks for stopping by. Have you started your holiday cardmaking yet?
