Multi-Layer Scene Building with Kelly

Hello Crafters! Two of my favorite things about cards are colors and cute critters. We're combining both today to create a fun birthday card.

There are so many cute animal sets in the Wplus9 arsenal that I had a hard time choosing but ultimately I decided to use the ones who haven't seen any love from me in awhile. I mean, look how adorable they are. How could I - in good conscious - continue to neglect them, right?

You can follow along from start to finish in the video below.

I love the way they pop out from their little windows. I think it gives the card such charming character. The addition if the actual twine strings to the balloons adds a bit of texture to the card which is super fun.

Don't you just love the shimmers on the balloons? I know I love shimmer on everything but I feel like it's a good problem to have. ;o)

I hope you're inspired to be creative this weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Just Checking In with Joni

Hello everyone, Joni here sharing these cute images from Curious Forest Friends and Forest Friends and combining it with an old favorite - the Birds & Branches Frame Die.

I began by distressing the white background panel with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Evergreen Bough. I then watercolored the Birds & Branches Frame die. The bear and raccoon were both colored with Copic Markers and die cut using their corresponding companion dies.

Next, I stamped the sentiments "Hello Friend" and "Just checking in to say hi" from Forest Friends. To finish off the card I added some Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

I hope you enjoyed! Thank you so much for stopping by!

GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Rubeena Farooqui

Hello, friends! It's Rubeena from A Rare Ruby. I am super excited to be a guest designer for WPlus9. Dawn is one of the sweetest and most talented ladies in the craft world, and I am so glad to have crossed paths with her. I'm grateful for this opportunity, considering the wonders that Dawn does with watercolors! For the past few months, I have been busy so I don't have as much free time to craft as I used to. When I do craft, I find myself playing with watercolors and creating basic scenes. I find that the scenes still look good even if you don't have the skill (or time) to fill in shading and details.

For today's card, I used two cute sets from WPlus9's latest release: Forest Friends and Curious Forest Friends. I started with watercolor paper and Ranger Black waterproof ink. I stamped the tree trunk and two of the bears, and I used masking tape for the bear that is lying against the trunk. I stamped in a log, some bees, some falling leaves, and the sentiment. Since it's waterproof ink. it doesn't matter if I stamp the sentiment now or later.

Once all the images were stamped, I started to color with my favorite watercolors. I added some blue for the sky and dabbed areas with a tissue for clouds. I finished it off with some splatters. Once the panel was dry, I used Scor-Tape to attach it to my A2 folded white card base.

I hope you felt inspired to create your very own basic watercolor scenes. If I can do it, so can you. WPlus9 critter sets are just perfect for creating so many different kinds. Thanks for stopping by and leaving some love! A huge thanks to Dawn for having me today :)

VIDEO: Hello Forest Friends with Kelly

Hello Crafters! I have a confession to make. I cannot stop using these bears..

Can. Not.

very time I sit down to create I'm like "Where are the bears?!" I mean how could I not love them. I decided to try and start working those fall color schemes into my card but I kept it super light.

It's not Autumn yet. :)

You can watch the video below where I tried to share a few tips on coloring with the markers you own along with how I handle where I want to stamp my sentiment.

I hope the shading tips help you to use what you have. Until, you want to buy more of course. I'll always support you in your crafty purchases.

Thank you so much for visiting!
