Par-tay! Masculine Card w/Kara

February is a very special month. It's my first nephew's birthday. I can't believe his is turning 23! I have had so much fun over the years making boy cards with cute little animals and balloons, but now need something a bit cooler and more grown up, but still fun!

I started with a white card panel and positioned masks in the center that I created using the Whimsy Alphabet Dies. On top of the masks I did my stamping using the Ink Splats stamp set. I chose Lake House, Bo Peep, Falling For Blue and Nautical Navy Dye Ink.

I removed the masks and gave the ink a little time to dry before stamping the sentiment. I used Strictly Sentiments 5 to create a custom sentiment by pairing two stamps from the set.

Once all of my stamping was done I felt his name, Ryan, didn't stand out enough. ; I decided to use the same Whimsy Alphabet Dies to die cut the letters from the stamped panel. I backed the panel with black cardstock and popped the letters up back in position. This way the sentiment matches up perfectly and the name is more prominent.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Masculine cards can be so difficult especially to a person like me who loves to create with flowers! But with a few simple stamp sets like Ink Splats and Strictly Sentiments 5, it's quick and easy!

You're The Best With Kara

Hey Guys! Kara here with a sweet little fox card to let you know you're the best! You always leave the nicest comments and I really appreciate it!

I have mixed together so many sets on this one project and I love it! I started with the Watercolored Anemones set. I die cut a bunch of flowers and leaves and stamped them all out. I started to arrange the flowers and leaves on a piece of white cardstock to see what I liked. I felt that behind the die cuts I needed something stamped in the background. I wanted something without too much visual weight because the die cut flowers in the front were quite heavy. I used a very thin lined image from Botanical Bunch. I chose to stamp it twice in Cranberry Crush ink, the darkest color in the flowers but stamped in the least amount. This helps to balance the colors. I decided to add in the cute fox and because his eyes and nose were black I wanted to add in more black to the design. A few berries from Botanical Bunch and some dots from Dream Believer add just the right amount.

I wanted to extend the size of the background stamping a bit, but in a more subtle color. I chose to use the lightest color from the flowers, Shell Pink. I used an image from Ink Splats for this.

Underneath I added a black panel and accented two corners with just a few elements of the main design. A banner tucked into the floral spray with a simple sentiment finishes it off.

I hope you like it. Thanks again for stopping by. You're the best!

EASY Ombre With Kara

Hey Guys! My husband and I recently took a vacation to the Caribbean. And, I think you can see that influence in my project today. The colors of the sea are so gorgeous and the combination of Sea Breeze, Ocean Drive, and Siren Song PURE COLOR Dye Ink is the perfect match!

I started by adding color to a white card panel directly from the ink pad. Beginning with the lightest color, I swiped the ink pad across the piece of cardstock, covering approximately a third of the paper. When I was happy with the coverage I moved to the next color. I swiped the ink pad across the middle slightly overlapping the first color. I went back in with the first color to make sure the colors blended together rather than leaving a line. I did the same with the third and final color. Once the ink dried I die cut the panel with the 4 Bar Stitched Rectangle Die.

I knew I was creating this card for my brother's birthday so I went to my stash and pulled out some masculine sets. The first one I went for was Dockside. I absolutely love the design of this compass rose. I decided to do some collage style stamping, clustering elements and overlapping them to create interest and a focal point without covering up the beautiful blue/greens in the background.

I stamped three clusters creating a visual triangle to draw your eye around the card. The cluster to the right is larger establishing it as the focal point. I started with the compass rose and then added the anchor and birthday sentiment, also from Dockside. I added in Ink Splats in the same color as the background to make those elements of the collage less prominent than those stamped in black. Some stars from Little Bits and a cluster of dots from Dream Believer finish it off.

With the same compass rose, I stamped another piece of white cardstock to create an envelope liner.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
