CHALLENGE: Throwback Thursday #10

The quilted look has been popping up all over the paper crafting community so I thought this was the perfect time to highlight our throwback die set, Quilt Cuts 2.

This month I'll show you how to use Quilt Cuts 2 for last minute holiday cards, Winter thank yous and everyday note cards.

Wplus9 Supplies:

It doesn't get quicker or easier than this.  If you are looking for some last minute ideas, this is it.  simply die cut and assemble.  The best part that that you can use all of the die cut pieces to make multiple cards!

Not only are the Quilt Cuts perfect for the holidays, but they also work for Winter thank you cards or thank you cards for any time of the year. While I kept my design cool in color choice knowing I'd be using it after the holidays, you could go bold and make a graphic card instead!

Wplus9 Supplies:

This last card shows you just how versatile this set is!  It really can be used any time of year, for any occasion!

Throwback Thursday #9 Entries

Iconic Christmas is timeless and classic. There is such a wide variety of images included in this set.  Each image can be used alone or the images can be paired to build the perfect Winter scene.  If I had to pick just one holiday set for my collection, it would be Iconic Christmas because of its versatility!

Each of my projects today use Iconic Christmas with the same color scheme and the same basic layout, but the images have been paired with newer WPlus9 product.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: Iconic Christmas  // Ink: Black // Cardstock: White // Dies: Holiday Apertures

The images in Iconic Christmas work perfectly with the Holiday Apertures die that released last year.  Here I die cut Holiday Apertures from white, red and green card stock and then placed each tree into the white piece.  It was a bit time consuming but so worth it in the end.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: Iconic Christmas  // Ink: Black, Last Leaf // Cardstock: White // Dies: Love Mom Layers Die

My next card uses the same basic layout and elements with the large stamped tree in the background this time and the silhouette image to the left.  Some glittery snowflakes and sequins finish off this CAS card perfectly.

Wplus9 Supplies:

For this last card, I paired Iconic Christmas with Winter Woodland.   I built a Winter theme inside a frame that was die cut from the Holiday Apertures die.  Iconic Christmas easily flows with the rest of the WPlus9 line.

I can't wait to see what you come up with, good luck!

Throwback Thursday Challenge #8 - Fair Isle Backgrounds

Our throwback set this month holds a special place in my heart.  Back in October of 2011, when this set released I was new to stamping.  I followed the WPlus9 releases every month but I still hadn't purchased anything.  I admit it,  I was a stalker :)   Until...I won the full October 2011 release.  Once I got these stamps in my hands, I was in love.  I've been a customer and fan ever since.  I still pinch myself that I'm on this awesome team.

Let me introduce to you this month's throwback stamp set is Fair Isle Backgrounds!

I've been seeing the Fair Isle print pop up a lot lately, so I decided this was a great time to feature Fair Isle Backgrounds.  I also wanted to show you that it isn't just for Holiday and Winter cards!

For my first card I paired Fair Isle Backgrounds with a stag to make the perfect masculine thank you card.   These two products are used mostly during the Winter and holiday season, but look at how perfectly these products work on a masculine card that can be given any time of year!

My next card uses the Fair Isle Backgrounds just to add a little pattern and to ground the leaf images.  The color palette makes this card versatile for giving any time of year.  Fair Isle Backgrounds is a perfect choice for Fall projects too.  Just change out the blues and add orange or red to give it more of a Fall feel.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: Fair Isle Backgrounds, Holiday Cheer // Ink: Coconut Husk, Bo Peep, Silver Lining  Nautical Navy, Fairy Dust // Cardstock: Oatmeal // Dies: Love Mom Layers Die, Holiday Cheer Dies

Last but not least, a Holiday card!  I couldn't wrap up this post without including one of the newest additions to the WPlus9 product line, Holiday Cheer.   I can see myself using these two sets together a ton this holiday season.

Ready for another challenge? After taking a month off, I'm back with another Throwback Thursday Challenge! This month we are revisiting the adorable "Pretty Patches" series and Country Charm.

The Pretty Patches stamp sets are adorable and affordable at only $6 each. Each set has an image and two sentiments, one can be used on the inside and one for the outside. The beginning stamper can quickly build up a supply of products for many different occasions by purchasing the Pretty Patches stamp sets.

Usually I would begin with the first card I made and make my way to the last, but because these are seasonal cards, I feel like I should begin with Pretty Patches: Apple!

All of my cards today feature the Love Showers Layers die as the focal point. I began this card by stamping the Ikat background on Kraft card stock. Next I die cut and inlaid a Nautical Navy Pinking Square. The apple was die cut and stamped with Cranberry Crush ink then adhered to the card with foam tape. I stamped the double line border in Nautical Navy ink on the top and bottom of the card base. I love the way that finishes off the card.

On this next card, I stepped up the design a bit by adding an extra layer. I stamped the tag again with the Borders & Backgrounds 1 stamp set, then just added the one border from Country Charm. I love how that grounds that stamped label.

And finally, this is my favorite of my cards today. I used the Country Charm stamp set to stamp my own plaid paper. It was so easy and just a great way to personalize your cards.

Throwback Thursday #6 - So 80's

Do you remember the first WPlus9 stamp set that you purchased? I do! Mine was So 80's. It's the perfect stamp set for guys and we all struggle with cards for them. So, grab your throw back So 80's set and let's make some guy cards!

My cards this month use a fun color combo. It's not one that I usually reach for, but I find that it's perfect for masculine cards. I used Flamingo, Mojito, Silver Lining and Black. If you are looking for a new masculine color combo, I suggest that you try this one.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: So 80's // Ink:  Mojito, Flamingo, Silver Lining, Black // Cardstock:  White

My first card was inspired by Get Sketchy with Joni - Challenge #2. Joni designed a fabulous sketch that I thought was perfect for kicking off my Throwback post! I trimmed a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch piece of white card stock on a diagonal and then placed it on a white card base. I made light pencil marks for where the pieces would be placed, then removed them and stamped the background.  Once the area was covered, I erased the lines and added the diagonals with dimensionals.

Wplus9 Supplies:

On this next card, I continued with the idea of stamping the card base, something I carried through all three designs. I stamped and die cut balloons and made a birthday card perfect for boys and tweens.  The black strips of paper help ground the design and add cohesion to the top and bottom portions of the card.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: So 80's, Ink Splats // Ink:  Mojito, Flamingo, Silver Lining, Black // Cardstock:  White

I had a blast with this card.  I stamped the entire border of the card base, then stamped the top panel. I pulled in the Ink Splats stamp set on this one to add to the overall grunge feel. This card is perfect for boys, teens and adults!

Play Along

Now it's your turn! We'd love to have you participate in our Throwback Thursday posts. We know you've got some older product in your stash dying to see some ink! So let's pull em out.

Throwback Thursday #5 - Fresh Cut Wreaths

Thanks so much for all of the participation in the last Throwback Thursday challenge.  I just love seeing all of your beautiful creations.  June makes me think of weddings so naturally the throwback set I'm using is Fresh Cut Wreaths.

My designs this month will take you from the engagement to the wedding.

For my engagement card I used the flowers from Fresh Cut Wreathes without the actual wreath.  It made stamping the background quick and easy since I was laying down several flowers at once.  I borrowed some stamps from Valentine Wishes and Fresh Cut Florals to complete the design.

Wplus9 Supplies:

For the Bridal Shower card I've literally showered the design with flowers.  I stamped the wreath first and then inked up and stamped flowers as if they are floating across the card.  I added a bit of twine to ground the sentiment and embellished the card with gold accents.  This card is perfect for any Summer or Spring Bridal Shower!

Wplus9 Supplies:

The wedding card is the most traditional use of Fresh Cut Wreaths and also my favorite of the set.  The monogrammed wreath is absolutely perfect for a wedding card and would make a nice gift set for either the shower or the wedding!

Throwback Thursday #4 - Fanciful Feathers

It's time for another Throwback Thursday Challenge.  This month we are heading back to 2013 and the Fanciful Feathers stamp set.  I have loved this set since the day it released.  The sentiments are among my favorites from the entire WPlus9 collection!

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: Fanciful Feathers // Ink:  Lake House, Cockleshell, Nautical Navy,  //Cardstock:  Nautical Navy

My cards this month are the epitome of CAS design.  This first card uses Masking.  Masking is a great technique to use on CAS cards.  It allows you to add stamping and interest without adding layers.  I masked off the top part of my card and then stamped the feathers in Lake House, Cockleshell and Nautical Navy inks.  I then removed the mask and repeatedly stamped the sentiment.  I finished this card off with a strip of Nautical Navy cardstock and some embellishments, which I carried through all three designs.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Cardstock:  Nautical Navy

Like my first card, the stamping on this card is kept in one area. This time though I've used the larger feathers in the set and stamped them across the cardstock.  I grounded them with a strip of Nautical Navy cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment in white.  Heat embossing in white on dark cardstock is always a striking detail.

Wplus9 Supplies:

For my last card I got a little trendy.  Have you noticed a lot of stamped card bases popping up, along with curvy card fronts?  I sure have. Here I used the Landscape Border Dies to cut the top panel for my card. I curved my sentiment on my acrylic block before inking and stamping so that it would follow the curve of the panel. Then I stamped the card base and added two more feathers, then completed the design with the same Nautical Navy strip and embellishments.

Play Along

Now it's your turn! We'd love to have you participate in our Throwback Thursday posts. We know you've got some older product in your stash dying to see some ink! So let's pull em out. Throwback Thursday - Monogrammed

It's time for another Throwback Thursday Challenge.  I'm a huge fan of making gift sets, especially this time of year with Teacher Appreciation Day coming next month.  I don't always send a lot of gifts into the schools throughout the year, but I always like to make card sets and send handwritten notes thanking our teachers for all of their hard work during the school year on Teacher Appreciation Day.  So this month, we our TBT set is Monogrammed.

This month I've made three card sets featuring Monogrammed and three different techniques using the newly released PURE COLOR Spray Mists in Lake House, Sweet Gelato, Sweet Nectar and Bloomsberry.

Wplus9 Supplies:
Stamps: Monogrammed, Country Charm // Spray Mist: Sweet Gelato // Dies: Love Showers Layers Dies// Cardstock:  Black

This first set is fun and trendy with the clean lines of the monogram paired with the sprayed ink and sequins.  I die cut four white panels using the Love Showers Layers Die, then sprayed each one with Spray Ink, concentrating the color in the upper left corner.  Then I stamped the bottom using the stripes from Country Charm and the Monogrammed letters.  Each card was embellished with sequins that coordinated perfectly with the Spray Mists.

The next set is also right on trend.

Wplus9 Supplies:

I love the versatility of the PURE COLOR Spray Mists.  This time I poured just a bit of each of the spray mists into a paint palette.  With a large brush I covered a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch piece of watercolor paper with clean water.  Then I came back with a smaller brush and dropped in some of the Spray Mist.  I let the water move the color around and then heat set it to create even more movement.  I created a frame for each card using the Holiday Apertures Dies and adhered everything to a white card base.

The last set uses a combination of colors.

Wplus9 Supplies:

To make these last cards, I sprayed a large acrylic block with two spray mists (Sweet Gelato and Sweet Nectar on one and Lake House and Bloomsberry on the other), then sprayed them with just a bit of water.  I took a piece of white cardstock and pressed it into the ink to get a fun watercolored look.  To make the little splotches on the white panel I removed the top of the Spray Mists and flicked the spray from the bottom of the nozzle.

Throwback Thursday #2 - Very Vintage Florals

Hello, it's Maureen with another Throwback Thursday post! This month I am featuring Very Vintage Florals, Very Vintage Floral dies and the Label Layers 3 die as my throwback products.

Very Vintage Florals is the perfect set for simple Spring themed cards. While I love two and three step stamping, it's nice to stamp with a solid image too. The label included in this set makes for the perfect focal point. You'll see in my card set today, I've used a beautiful Spring color combination of Lake House, Sweet Nectar, Little Piggy, Beanstalk and Coconut Husk PURE COLOR die inks. The colors from each of the collections work brilliantly together!

To start trio of Very Vintage Florals cards, I used my go-to layout. Beginning with something that you know works for you is a great way to jumpstart your creativity. The florals in this set are perfect for layering over one another.

For my second card, I flipped the orientation and rather than die cutting and popping up the Label Layer 3 die like I did in the first card, I placed it in the negative space. Using negative space is a great way to add interest without adding layers in your CAS designs. I added the stamped florals across the card to add movement and flow to the design. On this card I added Mojito ink into the color mix and it works wonderfully.

For my last card, went back to my go-to layout and stepped up the design a bit by stamping the entire background with Borders & Backgrounds 2, using a larger font and adding more florals to the frame.

Play Along

Now it's your turn! We'd love to have you participate in our Throwback Thursday posts. We know you've got some older product in your stash dying to see some ink! So let's pull em out. Throwback Thursday Challenge: Guiding Light

Hello, it's Maureen with another Throwback Thursday post! If you missed it last month, the third Thursday of each month I will posting three cards, each using the same basic layout and design elements and a "throwback" stamp set. This month I am featuring the Guiding Light stamp set and the companion dies as well as Guiding Light Sentiments.

Guiding Light is a timeless and classic stamp set that every stamper should have in their stash. The images included in the set make those hard to make sympathy cards a bit easier.

Rather than use the typical reds, blues and kraft color scheme with this nautical set, I went with a CAS silhouette approach. For my first card, I masked off 3/4 of an inch in on all four sides and sponged the background with Distress Inks. Then I simply stamped the images and sentiment in black ink.

This card uses the same basic layout, but rather than masking off the focal point, I've added a layer. Here I die cut the layer with the Sunshine Layers Die from watercolor paper, then I colored it with Distress Markers and spritzed it with water. Once dry, I did the stamping with black ink and used the same placement as my first card.

For my last card, I sponged the entire card base with Distress Inks and added a white frame that was cut using the Holiday Apertures die. The placement of the images and sentiment is a bit different on this card, but you can still see that same basic elements from my first card.

Play Along

Now it's your turn! We'd love to have you participate in our Throwback Thursday posts. We know you've got some older product in your stash dying to see some ink! So let's pull em out. Use any card above as inspiration, or even the stamp set if you've got it, and let's see those "oldies but goodies" get some love!
