Wplus9 April/May 2013 Release Day 3

It's already Day 3 of our April/May Release! Thank you so much for all of the enthusiasm over what we've previewed so far. I hope you will enjoy today just as much! If you need to catch up, you can start at Day 1 to catch up with all of the new product we will be releasing this month.

We still have a lot of new products to squeeze in today, so let's get started!

First up, we are going to take a look at Fresh Baked, Quilt Prints and our newest color of card stock and ink.

Fresh Baked is such a fun set. It's perfect for creating packaging for baked goods and treats, or for creating a gift package for those cooks in your life. I decided to put together a little gift basket for today using our newest card stock color and pigment ink, Cranberry Crush. I started with some store bought wooden utensils and cookie cutters. Then I put Fresh Baked to work creating some custom pieces.

To the basket I've added a hand stamped flour sack towel, a birthday card and some custom stationery and tags for the recipient to use. Here's a look at what's included with the stationery.

All of the images and sentiments used are included in Fresh Baked. It is packed to the brim with images and sentiments of all sizes. I just love how neutral Cranberry Crush is. It's a rich earthy red with a hint of purple and brown.

For the towel, I arranged my images on one block and just stamped repeatedly covering the entire towel using Palette Ink. I just love that little pot that I've used on the card. That's actually 3 different stamps, the pot, the sentiment and the lid. Here, I decided to emboss all of them in white to keep the design super simple and clean.

These kinds of sets are actually very quick to put together when you keep the design simple, but sure do make a statement upon presentation.

My next card is definitely NOT short on color. I decided to pair Fresh Baked with Quilt Prints.

How fun is that?! I used Quilt Prints along the top and bottom of my card to add tons of pattern and interest. There are two borders, a solid outline and a faux stitched outline, along with 10 different fillers to create your own custom patterns.

I used the Fresh Baked Companion Dies along with their coordinating images to create a cute little scene. That sentiment is also from Fresh Baked. Another font combination that I am loving.

How about another super simple one?

I used the little accent image included in Quilt Prints along with a sentiment from Fresh Baked. As much as I love detail, there's just something about a simple design with minimal color that makes me so happy.

For my last sample today, I wanted to create a few baby cards and tags. I have quite a few baby showers in my near future and I don't know yet if I'll need pink or blue, so....I made both!

They seriously don't get any easier than this. I die cut umbrellas from our Ballet Slippers and Lake House card stock. A coordinating tag finishes it off and now I'm ready for those showers.

Welcome back to Day 2 of our April/May Release! All previewed items will be available for purchase on April 5th at www.wplus9.com. If you are just joining us, be sure to start at Day 1 to catch up.

Today, we have two more new stamp sets and a new die to introduce.

Blanket Stitched Blooms

For my first project, I wanted to see if I could take these homespun images and give them a modern makeover. And I have to say, I think it came out alright. The flowers in this set all have a wonderful homespun feel with the blanket stitching detail. But paired with the bold stripes and colors, it becomes very "crisp" and just pops.

I decided use both the Blanket Stitched Blooms stamp set and die here along with some negative die cutting using our Label Layers 3 die. There are multiple sizes of flowers included in this set. To accommodate, I've also included two font types, one bold script, and another lightweight sans-serif.

A great feature of this set is that each of the flower's "rings" is a separate stamp, making it easy to add multiple colors if you'd like. For this sample, I kept the outer two rings the same color.

I repeated the same design for my tag, and also carried the stripes into an envelope liner using Country Charm. (I told y'all I use that stamp A LOT!)

Next, I wanted to share how cute these images look without the blanket stitching outlines as well. It gives the images a completely different look. For this set of note cards, I've paired the smaller flowers with some of the images from Paisley Patterns.

What do you think? It kind of reminds me of Rifle Paper style. For the set of note cards, I stamped flat cards at the top with "just a note" and added a floral spray underneath. And of course, you have to add matching envelopes.

For the packaging, I created a two piece envelope to hold the note cards. I stamped a complimentary pattern over the top half, and used Green Acres card stock for the bottom half. I thought this would make a nice graduation or moving gift, so I created a matching card to give along with the gift. And just because, I added some custom washi tape. Now the recipient has gorgeous stationery to write to you on.

Strictly Sentiments 1

Quite Like You is a very popular sentiment set, and many of you fell in love with the font combo and casual tone of the sentiments. I'm happy to introduce Strictly Sentiments 1. Another small set of sentiments with the same font combination and playful tone.

A little Tearific Tape, glitter, and a sentiment was all I needed for this one. I just laid strips of Tearific Tape across a card front and glittered one color at a time to achieve this cool glittery gradation.

Finally, here is a quick little birthday combo featuring more glitter and Strictly Sentiments 1.

While I had the glitter out, I decided to keep going. Both of these are super quick and easy as well. I used Sookwang Adhesive Sheets with our Pile It On Die to create the pennant banner along with another sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 1.

For the tag, I just added a little glitter to the top of a Timeless Tag 2 die cut and another sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 1.

Wplus9 April/May 2013 Release Day 1

It's Release Week! For those of you that are new to Wplus9, we will spend the next couple of days getting up close and personal with the products that we will be releasing this month. All previewed items will be available for purchase on April 5th at www.wplus9.com as well as at many of your favorite retailers.

We have lots of new product to share with you, however, I will be hosting release week all alone this month. We have had some manufacturing delays. But not to worry, the design team will be joining in with new and fresh inspiration over the next several weeks! So for now, sit back, relax and allow me to introduce our April/May 2013 Release.

So, let's get started!

First on the agenda is Paisley Patterns and the Folk Art Alphabet dies.

I can not even begin to express how much I love Paisley Patterns. With 28 images of all sizes, 2-3 step stamping, and filler images, it is packed full of paisley building possibilities! I started with my favorite paisley in the set to create this Thank You card with a folk art feel. Here's the run down on building this one.

Instructions:

1. Stamp outer scalloped layer.
2. Add inner blanket stitching layer
3. Build flower pattern. Stamp the main flowers, leaves and flourishes, and then the accent flower layers.

I've included both pre-assembled paisleys as well as many deconstructed paisleys that you can build. Recreating this pattern is easy to do by looking at the pre-assembled one also included in the set. I filled in the empty areas of my paisley pattern using some of the filler images in this set. One of the great things about these is that they are sized perfectly to be used alone, or fit inside of many of the open paisley shapes.

To die cut "THANK", I used the new Folk Art Alphabet Die. This font is so fun and versatile.

Next up, I wanted to create a set of post cards. Paisley Patterns is the perfect set for this.

I started by stamping my sentiment (more on this tomorrow), and then covering it with a rectangle of masking paper. Then I used several of the images to randomly stamp several different patterns.

To the back of each card, I stamped lines to write the addresses on.

For these post cards, I decided to create monochromatic patterns. But, since many of these images are 2 and 3 step stamping, you could make these in multi-colored patterns as well.

For my final sample today, I've paired Embroidered Bouquet Additions and Paisley Patterns together.

The filler images in Paisley Patterns are perfect for building floral accents live I've done here, flanking "Nana" on both this card and tag.

The striped matte on both were created using Country Charm.I think the banner image and die from Le Cirque complimented the design perfectly.
